Oak Terrace — Restaurant in Somerset West

‘Undiscovered gem’, comes to mind after our experience at the Oak Terrace. It proved to be the perfect setting for a calm and relaxed birthday gathering and gourmet lunch (on any given day). We booked the Bistro (beautifully decorated interior with a fireplace for those cold days), but were lucky enough to be able to enjoy the luscious garden on a sunny day (outside area is called Oak Terrace). They also have the cosy, gorgeous Magnolia section, ideal for enjoying wine or whisky, perfectly paired with their two small plates (at R 300 for two at the time of writing, the equivalent of one main meal) and a dumpling starter. Here are the good and bad points:

Good points: 1.Very good breakfast at the average price charged by most restaurants 2.Does have a fireplace

Bad points: 1.Couch seating is too low for the tables,whereas the other restaurant chairs are at the corrrect height.Not comfortable if you sit too low... 2.Fresh juices ( orange juice) should be served iso concentrated juice. 3.They should provide a steak knife with breakfast to cut your toast 4.Printed menus needs re-printing.Blemished and some words faded. 5.Fireplace to be attended to ensure a better fire 6.Service to be more...

This place was absolutely amazing, I made reservations and was late and had to call again to inform them and both times they were pleasant. On arrived we were offered to choose which side we wanted to sit. The staff was incredibly welcoming. The food, big ups to the chef.
