Jonny's is probably my favourite restaurant in Stellenbosch at the moment and raises serious competition for all the other establishments.
I've become incredibly demotivated by Stellenbosch restaurants that have recently either cut their portions, or neglected the quality of their ingredients only to save a buck or two.
However, Jonny's is a breath of fresh air - the portions are substantial and not overpriced at all. The quality of the ingredients is fantastic and they're one of very few restaurants in the area that ACTUALLY knows how to serve, spice and cook proper veggies on the side.
I've eaten there twice now and can't wait to return.
A favour to ask the establishment- please never falter on your food quality and portion sizes. You guys are a gem. It's really difficult to find a restaurant which is both family friendly and modern in this town, without being disappointed by at least the quality, price or portion sizes.

Read moreI ordered the steak and the chicken Espetada. The steak was overdone and very chewy with no flavor. We ordered another chicken Espetada to replace it. The first chicken dish was good but the second one was not. I feel like this restaurant has a consistency issue. Even with the service. We noticed that the staff was practically breaking their ankles to open the door for patrons as they left but not for us. We had to struggle with the door when we arrived and when we left. (Just to mention we are African American, and we do feel that this had something to do with the service provided). As we putting on our jackets the manager did come over and apologized for the service and the food. He also offered crème brûlée which we personally do not eat. They should have comped our bill or at least asked us what dessert we preferred. That would have been good service. Overall would...
Read moreWent to Jonny’s for first time on Sunday and left disappointed in the food, ordered a Baby chicken with the hot option. Chicken was precooked and then smothered in a sweet and somewhat chilli sauce which wasn’t nice at all, couldn’t taste the chicken and left half of it. Espetada and chips were fair. Wish restaurants would stop adding so much sauces to their recipes as it kills the flavor of the chicken, chourico and prawns. Keep it simple like Mozambique and have sauces on the side, good food speaks for itself not the sauce. It’s like putting a basting on a good steak,...
