How to find fault with Bella Casa: That it is maybe not an authentic Italian restaurant? How can it be with malva pudding as one of the dessert choices for one ... But Somehow Bella Casa gets it right by what they serve - whatever they do, they do it right! (See their display of "Best Italian restaurant" certificates ) To survive as an Italian restaurant in the heart of the Orange Free State - Bloemfontein - you have to go easy on foreign. Yes the risotto is there. And brilliant pizzas and pasta dishes and a few other surprizes too. But nothing unusual like puttanesca that will make the locals frown, yet there are enough dishes to please the Italian mood. There are safe choices like hake and chips or even a burger and of course, malva pudding.
It all goes down very well with the drink of your choice from the very good wine list. Served by very neat, friendly and very efficient waiters. (A pleasure for once not to be bothered by over friendly waiters with a every 10minute "is everthing still all right?") At Bella Casa our waiter just happen to appear from the shadows when we needed him! Empty plates quietly disappeared without fuss and the next course and wine choice s discussed discreetly.
Whatever you choose from the menu, be assured that it is well prepared and served with care. Their hearty portions on our choice of the risotto had us forego on the cheeseplatter that we had our minds set on. We will be back again for that some other time!
Do not forget to have a look at what they offer on the board too!
Bella Casa has a lovely atmosphere where the music complements the happy voices of the patrons rather than drowning them.

Read moreGood experience. Stopped over in Bloemfontein for the night. Google reviews for Bella Casa were good. Arrived without a booking, this was no problem at all, we were warmly greeted and given options on our table, we sat outside. Teboho, our waiter was on the ball, friendly and professional, thank you Teboho, your service was great and your friendliness made our evening very enjoyable. We had the smoked salmon starter, well presented, flavourful, a very good starter. I had the 200g fillet with chips. The steak was superb, perfectly cooked, soft inside, nice crust on the outside. Chips were very good as well and a nice portion. My wife had the vegetarian pizza, this too was very good. Decent sized portion, crust was nice and crisp, plenty of toppings, very good. The atmosphere is cosy and comfortable. Wine list is good, nice range of options. I think the food is very well priced and very good value. All in, a very good experience. Well worth a visit. Thank...
Read moreCosy, brightly coloured and adequate. Not really much to say about this place. I stopped over for lunch during a work day, it was one of a few plausible places to eat in Bloemfontein city centre and I felt like having something "Italian".
The place wasn't packed, although I've been there at night and it's pretty full. The ambience is generally ok, won't particularly go there for the view since it's a relatively tiny place but does offer a feeling of coziness. I ordered the basil pesto chicken pasta, it was a bit watery for my taste. The service was good, the owner seems friendly, although the waiter serving me was a bit zombie like (as though they made him out of dough in the kitchen 😂).
Will I return, maybe on an evening to see what the fuss is all...
