Roller Coffee — Restaurant in Daegu

Daegu's Namsan-dong is a mix of older industrial vibes and trendy new cafes, comparable in a lot of aspects to Seoul's popular Seongsu-dong.

Sitting in a prime location, between car repair workshops, old printing houses and 1970s bungalows, sits the popular Roller Coffee. Since opening four years ago Roller has quickly become the heart of the community, as well as being Daegu’s number one spot for a Latte. Breaking tradition, Roller opens early at 8am every day (except Sunday) and has just three items on the menu: Latte (5oz or 7oz), Espresso and Americano; all are priced around the 3,000 to 3,500 KRW mark ($ 2.70 - 3.10) making it one of the most competitively priced speciality cafes in the area.

The cafe has a British theme throughout with an English oak counter (a rare sight in Korea!), souvenirs from holidays in Shoreditch and background indy music from The Strokes and Fleet Foxes. The second floor, which houses their Diedrich roaster is currently being renovated but will soon feature a traditional English bakery and brunch cafe. Expect pound cakes, Victoria sponge, and retro European decor; a little slice of East London in the middle of Daegu.

기대했던 것에 훨씬 못미치는 커피 맛이었다. 평범한 맛. 5oz / 7oz의 카페라떼를 주문할 수 있었고, 5oz는 더 진하다고 해서 보통인 7oz를 주문했다. 커피 원두 자체가 내 취향은 아닌듯 했다. 우유도 매일우유를 쓰면 좀 더 나을듯했다. 진하게 마셔도 별 다를건 없을듯 하다. 왜이렇게 사람들이 많이 방문하는지 의문인 카페.

The coffee taste fell far short of my expectations—just plain and ordinary. You could choose between a 5oz and 7oz café latte, and since the 5oz was said to be stronger, I went with the standard 7oz. It seemed the coffee beans themselves weren’t really to my taste. I felt that using Maeil milk might have improved it slightly. 며칠전에 지나가는길에 사람들이 워낙 많이 있길래 뭔가하고 유심히 봤는데 애기들 데리고 있어서 일단 패스했습니다 ㅎㅎ 나중에 꼭 가봐야지 생각하다가 오늘 마침 근처에서 식사하고 딱!! 생각이 나길래 드디어 방문했습니다!

가게 안에 들어니 커피향이 너무 좋았고 음악소리가 좀 많이 커서 좀 놀랬는데 요즘 젊은 취향이구나~ 했네요^^

카푸치노를 주문하니 진하게 먹을려면 5온즈를 추천하셔서 일단 시켰는데 종이컵싸이즈가 5온즈였더라구요 ㅎㅎ( 온즈 개념이없었던 나)

암튼 커피맛은 너무 좋았고 7온즈.5온즈 싸이즈 오늘 확실히 알게되었어요~

오늘 날씨가 완전 화창한 봄날이였는데 매장자체가 밝고 밖에 있는 벤취도 너무 감성감성하고 좋았어요 . 평소보다 리뷰를 참 길게 적었네요 ㅎㅎㅎ

커피맛 너무 진하고 좋았어요~ 남자직원분(긴머리)도 너무 활기차고...
