My local fried and I were staying at an Airbnb and it was rather late already. On this street, there are restaurants and cafés, but they close relatively early, so keep that in mind. We had essentially a choice of beer and (chicken, pizza, or something else I forgot). So I chose chicken. Rather typical in South Korea, the establishments are referred to as: Chimaek (치맥).
They are open late, which is great, and they take credit card! When waking in, you have a choice of sitting on chairs, or kicking off the shoes to it on elevated space. I would say shoes off for sure. They only have two flavors - Soy and Spicy, and they are both delicious. I am partial to spicy. Read moreDelicious KFC (Korean fried chix) off the beaten path! Nestled in a small off-street nook popular with both students and families we could see. One of few late night eateries in Gyeongju town! Family run with charismatic mom and high quality chicken with light crisp coating and tasty sauce choices. We had the half/half with classic (comes with great sea salt) and the spicy red garlic sauce. The moo pickle is fresh, crisp and perfectly pickled. And comes with a simple cabbage slaw with the archetypical 1000 Island dressing I grew up with. Be patient for everything is battered to order. Limited seating. Also they do a heavy load of takeout orders. A wonderful local place!!! Has menu in Korean, English...
