This is a fantastic spot in Bukchon Hanok Village for panoramic views of both the traditional hanok houses and the modern skyline of Seoul. Located at the top of a hill, the observatory offers a breathtaking vantage point to admire the beauty of the historic neighborhood and its surroundings.

You can enjoy sweeping views of the tiled roofs and wooden facades of the hanok houses below, creating a scene reminiscent of a bygone era. The tranquil ambiance of the village is juxtaposed against the bustling energy of downtown Seoul, visible in the distance with its towering skyscrapers and vibrant city lights.

The observatory is an ideal spot for those looking to capture stunning shots of Bukchon Hanok Village from above. Whether you're visiting during the day to capture the charm of the village bathed in sunlight or at night to witness the twinkling lights of the city skyline, this spot offers unparalleled opportunities for breathtaking...

We were greeted by an older gentleman at the door to the observatory shortly after 9 am. "Third floor," he said, while sweeping the street. Up we went.

Observatory is a grand word, and most would expect an arsenal of viewers and telescopes, or a marble-covered grand hall of sorts. This was the top floor of the old man's building. We passed by the open door of his apartment on the way up, a glimpse into his life.

The observatory itself was a small solarium looking out over Bokchun Village. In the background played a looping track from a 1970s Korean pop album punctuated by calls from the parrot that lived there. We sat on the simple chairs and just watched the clouds and life go past. The owner brought us orange juice in tea glasses and made simple conversation.

The quiet simplicity and pleasant chance to experience a few uncomplicated moments made the Bokchun Observatory a moment worth...

You can feel traditional Korean old town and enjoy peaceful place where is quite different from busy city, Seoul. It is hard to believe such kind of quiet village exists in the middle of Seoul. The observatory looks like remodeled private house and entrance cost is about $2.5 per person. And one of green tea, orange juice or coffee are menu included in the entrance fee. You can see old village area with modern building together on the observatory. I think it deserves to visit although the cost look expensive a little. One note you should be careful is that real Korean citizens living in the village. So, tourists should be quiet not to bother their private life...

I thought this was definitely worth the cheap cost of entry. You basically pay for your drink, which also gets you access to the house and gardens. The drinks were totally decent, but it's the gardens and views of the surrounding area that are worthwhile. I felt like I got a better experience/views of the Hanok village here than on the crowded main alleys with all the people posing for photos. It was quiet and pleasant.
