I had a great experience at 3355 Hanbok! I chose this spot because the reviews and images looked like they had higher quality hanbok, and it was definitely true! But that wasn’t all that made the experience great. Though the hanbok options at 3355 Hanbok were better definitely quality than many of the others we saw at the palace and in the surrounding area, what made it excellent was the staff. The ladies were so sweet. A few spoke English, but those who didn’t were still easy to communicate with through pointing and nodding. They are contentious and really cared about making sure the hanbok fit us and were styled properly. I noticed many other people’s hanbok at the palace were too short or open at the back, showing the petticoats. But the ladies at 3355 took extra time to make sure we had the right sizes and styled them so that we could move without the hanbok shifting. I made a reservation a few days ahead of time for right when the shop opened (would recommend if you want to get in before the crowds). They are a smaller shop but still have a lot of options to choose from. The staff was so lovely and helped my friend and I choose which outfits to put together quickly but without feeling rushed. You get to choose the skirt and top separately, then they take you to a separate room and one of the ladies helps you dress. You keep your pants on, but if your shirt shows above the neckline of the top, they ask you to take your shirt off. They have very fluffy petticoats that give you the proper shape. They will also keep all your belongings at the shop until you return. After getting dressed, you get to chose a purse (included in the rental price) and are offered the option to style your hair for an extra 7,000. My friend and I have bobs and didn’t think they could do anything, but they actually suggested a fake bun style that worked beautifully. We rented the hanbok for four hours at an affordable rate, which was an okay amount of time (got through one museum and part of the palace). Make sure to return the hanbok on time, as they charge a late fee. The shop is only a five minute walk from the entrance to the palace next to the National Folk Museum. It’s in the basement on a corner and pretty easy to spot. I really enjoyed the process and getting to walk around the palace confident that the hanbok was properly put together. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who wants to...
Read moreOverall the best place to rent a hanbok and get hair done! I scheduled an appointment on their website about a month in advance for rental for me and my boyfriend and my hair styling. I recommend booking ahead of time so you don’t have to wait! Their hanbok are high quality and they are extremely busy. They are also very foreigner friendly. My boyfriend being Korean, we didn’t have language issues but they do know some English.
Additionally, we added the photography option. The photographer was OUTSTANDING. He was very attentive and precise with our pictures. I told him I wanted to be in a “drama” and he made it look exactly like that. (These pictures below were taken in his phone, as we are waiting for his editing from the camera to be completed.) My dream came true coming here and wearing their beautiful hanbok that are very well taken care of. It was an unforgettable experience. I want to come here again next trip!! Thank you so much.
Edit: I am also reading reviews on the people coming in without an appointment expecting fast service and the limited amount of men’s wear. If you BOOK AHEAD, they can accommodate you at a comfortable pace, as they will be expecting you. This is good for the customer and a respect for the business. As for men’s wear, you will have more time to speak with the workers to help you choose your men’s wear, as it is a little more...
Read moreMe and my friends didn’t do any research on which hanbok rental shop we should go before visiting the Gyeongbok Palace so I just asked someone wearing hanbok there which shop they went and they recommend 3355. It’s just around a 5 mins walk from the palace and it really surprised me🤩🤩 The staffs are so nice and friendly and they’re able to communicate in English (not super fluent but perfect for tourists✨✨). Their hanboks are really beautiful with a wide collection for you to choose from and you only need to pay 5,000 won for the hairstyle (which is optional). Their hair accessories are pretty and colourful and the staff who made my hair has gentle hands and did not pull my hair roughly in which I’m very thankful for that❤️❤️. Plus they provide you with a traditional Korean bag that you can choose to match with your hanbok for carrying personal belongings while you leave other stuff in the shop for free. What surprised me was the shop plays Seventeen songs and one staff was happily singing along while she’s working and it brings me so much joy cause I’m happy seeing her enjoying herself at work😌😌 I asked her if she’s a CARAT and she said her bias is Hoshi🐯🐯 She’s also an ARMY and MOA so I’m glad to meet a Kpop buddy here😆😆 Thank you so much for giving me a pleasant experience in Korea and hope that more people will discover this hidden...
