So, I went to Gino's pizza because I saw a post on IG. This is my experience, I will let my experience speak for itself. When I walked in, I said to the lady that I had 2 people for dinner, but my wife was outside talking on the phone. The lady asked me 2 times where my wife was, I saw the rule in the stairwell, but I found the intonation of the worker to be very rude. When I told her that my wife would be upstairs soon, she let me sit down. Then, the worker directed me to the menu, but it was my first time and I didn't have the NPC setting on my.phone enabled..I tried to access the menu o n the table many times, I even asked the male worker for help, and he just threw the menu directions as me, expecting me to understand the Korean directions, even though I walked in and spoke English. Reminder, the IG ad was in English, so I thought it would he ok to speak English in the restaurant, but when I spoke English, the workers responded very inconsiderate. I did not feel welcome or feel that they appreciated my business, but I guess if they have a lot of business then they do not need go care about in-person customers. Perhaps it is their policy to only get customers in and out quickly for profit, but that might just be my speculation. I want everyone to know that this is my experience, perhaps theybwere just having a bad day, but I will never eat here again, but probably, they don't care because they might not care about their customers because their pizza is...
Read moreI'll preface by saying I'm a New Yorker and very particular about my pizza. Long story short if you're looking for good pizza and a nice NYC vibe (LES) you'll be happy with Gino's.
Location : top of a small hill in a popular neighborhood. Incredible views from the eating are.
Food: the pizza's are not giant nyc pizzas however what they lack in size they make up in absolutely Delicious pizza. The "reg" size pie is good for one person. Get the large for groups of three or even two. I got the plain and the pepperoni pizzas. Both were excellent. Dough was fresh. Ingredients were fresh.
Service: no frills and to the point and polite. Exactly what I want when I'm grabbing pizza.
Ambience: good music, Lower East Side vibes.
Price: decent price for the area and for what you get. Not cheap but not close to expensive.
Crowds : I went around noon and it was not crowded at all but I can imagine at night and Fri-Sun this place probably gets packed.
View: the view was totally surprising and faced south with no obstructions.
Staff: chill, friendly and professional.
What I ordered: 2x pizza pies, 2x alcoholic drinks, 2x sodas
Go eat...
Read moreI hope to edit my review in time - Every time I go here they're sold out of pizza hours before close. They have fallen victim to their own popularity and cannot accommodate patrons adequately. Part of this is not their fault (no one should be blamed for success!) - but part of it is. See below.
The restaurant only makes a set amount of dough per day. For scheduling, they use an electronic reservation system: people line up very early, put their name on the list, and then receive a text message hours later when their spot is ready. Since people leave the restaurant while waiting, there are often gaps with unfilled tables. It also means many people just never show up at all, leaving unsold dough. The restaurant's solution is to allow walk-ins after 8:30 and sell off dough for the no-shows. It's a pretty frustrating system that allows a lot of attrition and lets people lazily cancel their "reservation" by simply never showing up.
A standard lineup, while frustrating for those who must wait, is more fair. And would make sure the people who really appreciate their...
