Right off the bat, I noticed how packed the place was. It was too crowded for my taste. People were talking loudly and the spaces between the small tables were too small. The walls echoed the rowdy noises of conversations from other tables, I think this environment is more suited for a bar or a nightclub rather than a dining place. The small tables were another issue. Me and my friend ordered two appetizers and two main dishes, which covered the whole table. The dishes were literally poking out of the table. So overall, not a very comfortable dining experience, just from a physical standpoint.
As for the food, the taco chips that came for free with the jalapeno sauce was decent, a slightly better version of wallmart's tortilla chips and dips. The next appetizer was the best part of the whole experience, a kimchi mixed with mexican spices and fries. The different tastes of fries and cheese and kimchi spice blended in in a way that was phenomenal. This appetizer was great. However, I cannot say the same for the burger I've ordered, which was ginormous. And I've had burgers in Amsterdam and that's saying a lot. They were literally too big to even slice with a fork and knife, and the top bun was like half the size of the bottom bun so I could not get a firm grip when I picked the slice up with the fork. As I tried to slice up this giant disproportional burger, all the pieces fell off and I had to make a giant mess. The chicken inside the burger was again, too big, it felt like they shoved in an entire chicken inside it. I just ate like half of the burger and called it a day. As for my friend who ordered 4 pieces of quesadilla seemed to be finished after eating one and a half piece, so I think that's quite self explanatory.
Overall there is not much to say about this place besides that it's extremely overpriced, their kimchi fries are great, but definitely not worth the ruckus equivalent of Thursday Party on a busy night....
Read moreThe food and atmosphere is very good. But here's the problem. It's really overpriced for the serving size you actually get . A plate of three basic Carne asada tacos costs 10,000. The tacos were tiny mini-tacos size. So don't be fooled by the pictures on the menu. The individual portions we ordered seemed small for the price we were paying. . I don't mind paying a lot for Mexican food as long you get a relatively decent-size portion. At this place, you definitely don't. Tasty food for sure, but you can't help but feel like you got ripped off for such small servings. And the alcoholic drink prices are also outrageous. AND one more thing that annoyed us. They nickel and dime you for any side extras. We wanted a side of sour cream for our tacos and another side of salsa for the Carne asada fries. They charged us 1,000 each for a small side order of sour cream and another 1,000 for the salsa. Seriously! !? Shouldn't any Mexican restaurant include sour cream or salsa as a side!?? My advice. Even though the food is decent, I'd skip it! There are plenty of other nice REASONABLY priced Mexican restaurants in Seoul to...
Read moreVatos is excellent and I believe they have one of the best customer service experience. They're always positive and the food is great.Love the atmosphere, the food, the drinks. Everything’s great including the service. The taco dips are really good, would definitely recommend. The drinks come in a huge cup and tastes exceptional. Would definitely recommend for some authentic Mexican food with a slight korean fusion. Pretty good food but just a bit on the pricey side. I was full by the end of the meal even though I didn't expect to be. They have interesting drinks here too. All the servers speak basically fluent English. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food is. Fresh and delicious. Service was very nice and prompt. Really loved the quest dip and ability the get a Jarritos! If you are going in a Friday eve or weekend probably there’s a wait. We had to wait around 40min to get a table and it was worth waiting. I was super excited by the environment . It was fully crowded with multi nationals which for a moment I felt like im in Europe. Food portion seemed to be little less comparatively but tasted...
