I generally don't eat meat - least of all chicken - but every once in a while when I'm on vacation, I "let five be even" (as we say in Germany, I know that sounds rather odd in English) and try the local cuisine, even if it's meat based. Admittedly, putting chicken wings on the list of local korean cuisine is a stretch, but hey, let that one slide.
Since it was Sunday evening and the place was buzzing, I had to wait outside for a few minutes. They have a "reservation machine" which I couldn't really use because I did not have a korean phone number, but the waitress was super helpful and just put in her own number. Or a random number, who knows, in any case I got a table some fifteen minutes later.
And boy, them wings were good. Crispy and with the perfect level of hotness. I do like spicy food but I am not sure I could've handled an authentic korean level of spicyness - so for my somewhat battle-hardened western tongue, this was perfect.
I had the platter with ten wings, fries and some tokenistic carrots and celery, and for me that was plenty. If you're really hungry (or generally eat larger portions) you might want to upgrade to twenty.
As a final note, I wanted to highlight how friendly the waitresses were, they seemed to have fun and help each other out. Though they were super busy and it took me a little while to get my order for my second beer in. A Kölsch nonetheless, didn't expect to find...
Read moreI've been here in Korea for a while, and I've become homesick for flavors of home, and Korea never has actual buffalo chicken and wings. This place surprised me! The buffalo wings had that vinegary kick I missed, but most importantly, they were WET buffalo wings! They were moist, saucy, yet still crispy! The flavors reminded me of the States, but a little different as things tend to be, however, it wasn't in a, "Oh, they localized the flavors," way, but more like a, "this is a different State buffalo flavor," kind of way.
The Honey Butter was AMAZING, and when the chicken was done, I ended up dipping the fries into the left over sauce. I'm going to find out how to make my own honey butter dipping sauce because this sauce was that good.
I'm personally not a big fan of ginger, though I do enjoy it, but my friend's favorite was the Amazinger sauce. It was bright and clean.
The lemon pepper was the weakest, and I wish there was more lemon flavor, but not too bad, especially for the lack of lemon pepper in Korea. It did end up being the greasiest of the wings, so I'd get if I were...
Read moreThe presentation & quality of the food was fine. I found the portion sizes to be smaller and definitely pricer. I was very disappointed in the service that we received when I was there with my mother & family. My mother has type 2 diabetes, renal failure and etc. We ordered $40 worth of wings & appetizers. My mom has a very specific diet, and she could only eat white rice. We asked the two waitresses if my mom could eat the microwaveable white rice you can buy at CU or Seven 11 together as a family since we would be eating wings; they said no. We explained the situation about my mother's health but still no. So I would NOT recommend Nekkid Wings. I didn't appreciate the indecorous & disregard attitude for my...
