Kompakt Record bar — Restaurant in Seoul

Had my eye on this place for a while bc some ppl I follow on Insta made it look appealing. It had all the trappings of sth I'd like - off the beaten path, small and cozy, vinyl music in roto - yet sth was off abt the vibe. It felt more like a bourgeois wine bar than a record bar. Too sophisticated to be fun, too cramped to be enjoyable. My friend liked a song being played and reached for the album jacket sticking out of the crate right in front of us and the DJ/bartender (owner?) had a mild stroke. Our attention was directed to a small piece of tape on the crate that discouraged touching the records. How abt not sticking your stash inches from customers then? Usu record bars are abt enjoying and sharing music, but there was a velvet rope air to this place that was off-putting. The song selections leaned too heavily on jazz that night, too, which just added to the stuffy quality of the venue. Kompakt is a chill place to listen to an eclectic mix of music played only on vinyl. The owner is a super nice guy who always makes you feel welcome, and the bar staff is friendly and considerate. Everything about this place makes it one of my fave places to go for a lowkey night...
