Picture 1: Clarification: I took this pic half-way eating. So most of the dishes are nearly empty. All dishes used to be full. I decided to take a pic as memory because it was so delicious (half-way eating).
Picture 2: The jokbal (pork leg) in small portion [The jokbal will be eaten with cabbage and a vinegar sauce. So refreshing!]
As soon as you sit down, they will put a big pot of hot ddeok soup and a lot of side dishes on your table. They are free. We thought they accidentally gave us other people's pot of soup.
Highly recommend you to order the jokbal (pork leg), bossam (boiled pork dish) and boiled dumpling. You may thought it is a lot but let me tell you, it is SOOOOOOOOO delicious that you WILL finish everything! I went in a family of four (we were half full before entering the restaurant). We ordered the small portion for pork leg and boiled pork dish. The small portion is HUGE too! But we were surprised we can finish everything! pork leg is soft and bossam is so refreshing! You eat the bossam with a white cabbage. DELICIOUS! LOVE EVERYTHING.
We ordered the spicy noodle. It was spicy (well of course). Not very high recommended if you cannot tolerate spicy much.
Service: Excellent! The waitress can speak fluent mandarin and they were very helpful and attentive. I had a great...
Read moreThis is a Michelin-starred Korean/Chinese specialty restaurant tucked away in an alley near the City Hall subway station. They have more than 1 location, but this is my SIL's favorite location (it was her recommendation). They serve one dish, braised pork knuckles, sliced thin, and presented beautifully so it is easy to eat. If you've had Chinese braised pork with five-spice, you'll recognize the classic flavors here. It hardly looks like pork knuckles until you see the bones buried under all the sliced pieces of meat and tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork skin that is wonderful collagen. It comes with all manner of side dishes including cold noodles and egg drop soup with dumplings. You can order in smaller or larger portions, depending on your party. I think the ideal group size to enjoy this is 4 or fewer. If you are a lover of pork dishes and Korean food, I suggest you try this place. We visited twice during our 7-day stay in Seoul. And don't forget to put on the provided aprons before you slurp those cold noodles...
Read moreWe came early at 6+pm on a Thur, so no queue and we were urshered to L2. Shortly after we placed our order, the place were fully filled. When there, behind us was a large group of office ladies and men, obviously on company dinner, and in front was 5 guys talking korean and definitely by the culture of pouring soju & shying away while drinking - koreans...so definitely a local venue. Place not touristy, so dun expect servers to know english or mandarins that well, but I remember there's a english menu with lotsa pictures. Not sure if there's a standard serving size, but there's only 2 in my grp but lady kept saying 中 meaning medium size, so end up with alot more meat than we can relli finish comfortably. Seems like standard to serve dumplings & rice cake soup, like the side dishes, without asking. If u like pig trotters, its nice with all the collagen & all. Next table, there's a combi plate, bring a bigger grp to enjoy more variety. At L1, they...
