Kkanbu Chicken Bukchangdong — Restaurant in Seoul

Our first night in Seoul and our hotel (the Plaza) recommended this place as we were looking for a late night snack.

The place was empty apart from two other customers - probably because it was after 10 pm on a Sunday night.

We ordered the soya and garlic chicken leg meat and a bowl of rice. My wife ordered water and I had a soju. The waiter was attentive, friendly and spoke good English. To start, he brought some some crackers and some pickled turnips both of which were nice and tasty.

The main dish was really good and very tasty. Unfortunately, it was too much for us to to eat as we were only looking for a snack. But what we ate, we really enjoyed.

Price was reasonable to - 31,500 won (about USD23) for a big plate of chicken, a bowl of rice. A soju and a large water. Pretty reasonable we thought but not cheap.

Would definitely recommend it.

I would have gave this place 0 stars but since I have to put at least 1 star.. this place is getting 1 star!!! Food = Good, as this is not my first time. Service = Bad... why.. not sure if he's the owner or manager but rudest and unhappy person I've seen in Korea. We came in on a very hot day, and AC was really low. Asked him if he can put the AC up and he said NO!! I guess since we were the owner customers here... it wasn't worth the money to keep the customer satisfied.. Also, brought my 13 year old son, and he was watching TV on his phone and asked us to put the volume down. REALLY... NO...

Honestly the food is not bad, fried chicken better than a lot of other places, but I think is a bit overpriced and the service attitude is really bad, at least towards non-korean. We were ushered to an outdoor table when the indoor was full which is understandable, but when we ask to be moved indoor if there is available indoor seats the waiters (both waiters) said no. I think the same happened to a few other reviewers. I will update again if I find other fried chicken restaurant nearby which serve good food and provide good service but for now I I wouldn't recommend...
