I had a doubt when I noticed the restaurant was on the second floor. The price seems comparable, but I soon found out the truth. I ordered two bundle deals, which have spicy roasted pork( I thought it was a beef, not a pork) with grilled mackerel for 31900 won. The roasted pork was too watery, which has too much lard and fats. The grilled mackerel was lacking crispy due to precooked and may be reheated before the serving. There are multiple BukChangDong Soondubu outlets near this store, and I do not know how the others are doing. But I never even think about BukChangDong Soondubu again ever. This was the total discourage event, and this store does not have any qualifications to carry the BukChangDong Soondubu. The main dish, the Soondubu, was the must try to see what the upset, eye-popping situation means. I have a kind of understanding of the difficulty of running a business, such as rent, wages, overheads, etc. but this location doesn't have the basis for the restaurant. I won't go back ever again. The other guests who came in after us and sat at the next of my table were fully served before my table. The waitress set up my table without Soondubu, which is the main focal point of the day, as well as the next table. But another waitress served Soondubu next tabe first, which act make my eyes popping out again. The waitress for my table later brought out Soodubu and apologized for the delay and a mistake in the kitchen, but I entirely lost my appetite by then. I was so cheap, and I couldn't bypass the meal even though I had no appetite because it was my last meal of the day. This act leads me to pay for my softness. The final outcome was a loose bowl followed by a sure cramping pain. What a day in the misleading and confusing world. I expect and hope a reasonable quality whenever and wherever I try in the restaurant for a meal.

Read moreWe were looking for something relatively light to eat in an area where fried chicken and beef bbq joints are everywhere. The porkbelly and mackerel plus soon dubu combo for two caught our eye, and very reasonably priced. This place is up a short but steep flight of stairs and opened up to a fairly spacious area. First of all, theres a fairly short menu of combos that range from pork belly to galbi ribs but all looked good. Combo meal for 2 we chose was soon dubu, mackerel and pork belly. Came with purple rice in a hot covered stoneware (have to keep covered for a few min to finish cooking). The soon dubu had shrimp and small clams with the tofu and it was wonderful! Not overly spicy and seafood gave it a beautiful taste. Then the pork belly: add the banchans and ssam sauce when wrapping with the bokchoy cabbage and wow! Mackerel is good too. You eat the purple rice of course but when only the crusted rice is left you pour in the hot water they give you into the stoneware, cover and after a couple of minutes you have soup with rice! Service was good and servers were nice. Nothing flashy all in all but boy, did...
Read moreOur hotel recommended we come here for lunch. A nice man greeted us and gave us a menu with english translations. We ordered the red pepper paste bulgogi for one person and the bukchangdong soondubu (tofu stew with a variety of other ingredients - prawn and beef). This stew came with some kimchi, pickled vegetables, some fish. We also received pots of rice.
There are eggs on the side and the man directed us to crack one into the stew.
I'm pretty sure that you have your own bowl and fill it as you please - with rice and/or stew and all of the other delicious items. We ended up eating out of all the pots like silly people but that's ok, we didn't seem to offend anyone... haha. We were also given hot water which I think it for putting in the rice if it sticks too much to the pot.
The experience was a lot of fun and the food was fantastic. The tofu stew had an incredible flavor and was silky smooth. The red pepper bulgogi was a bit spicy and absolutely delicious. A wonderful first...
