Welcome and service were very good. Restaurant is lovely we were seated at a table with my husband placed right under the music speaker, after a few minutes of being seated, the music was turned up so loud it was off putting when trying to have a conversation. At this point we were the only people in the restaurant!. We had been booked in by the customer experience person from baobab suites where we were staying, she insisted that they would cater to our tastes and that the food was excellent and they had a new menu starting that evening. The menu definitely wasn't new it was the same as when we had looked months before. They did have a special menu on showing FISH AND CHIPS which my husband ordered expressing that he only wanted the fish and chips on his plate nothing else including garnish which the waitress understood. I initially was going for the scallops off the same menu but the waitress said they had a special of seabass with canarian potatoes, which I ordered. We ordered water and soft drinks, and were presented with a free nibble which I tried it was all very soft and not appetising. The main course's arrived at the bar area where the waitress and two other members of staff where hanging about, it took some time for when the food was eventually presented we were shocked by what was on our plates, my seabass was surrounded by a pool of brown sludge which was so off putting i didn't touching, the seabass fortunately was balanced on warm cucumber and a few chunks of potato the seabass was lovely however I didn't touch anything else on the plate. The FISH AND CHIPS was 4 small pieces if fish with a soggy batter surrounded by an orange puree and had something brown sprinkled over the fish and plate, my husband complained to the waitress that he asked for nothing else to be on the plate, she took it away, and we waited thinking they were probably doing the dish again I started on my dinner, but 5 minutes later my husband was presented with the same pieces of fish wiped down and on a new plate , what we hadn't seen initially was that the fish was being served not with CHIPS (as advertised) it was actually served with CRISPS soggy ones at that. I did order the chocolate desert which was lovely. €75 euro to be presented with fish and crisps, seabass and brown sludge is definitely not what we expected and hav3 had much better food in other restaurants down the hill in town than what this restaurant served. We definitely wouldn't return or recommend, and I don't think the staff at the Baobab Suites should be recommending the...
Read moreMust be an honest start. We were staying at Baobab Suites (big white building at the top of the hill when heading towards La Caleta) and just couldn’t be bothered walking anywhere so we went across the road to Kar Bon. A serendipitous decision as it turns out because…wow! You must get the bread - artisan sourdough with three home made flavourful sauces. Feeling adventurous and you see octopus croquetas (what! interesting!) on the menu. Why not! I can’t think of words any better than stunningly delicious - you get 4 so as a small sharer between two it is ideal. I can’t recommend any dish as this would impinge upon personal preferences. Just fall into the menu to enjoy absolutely delicious food at, in my most humble opinion, reasonable prices which reflect the quality of the offerings, and the culinary skill to present them. And please, please, please ask for a recommendation for a local wine to accompany your dishes. Canarian wine has made major leaps and bounds over the past decade and, from a very low beginning (well, just awful), have matured into an excellent wine producing area. They may cost a Euro or two more but you won’t be disappointed. What a way to support local viticulturists. The staff are welcoming, excellent and know their stuff. Nothing was too much trouble, and they genuinely seem pleased to see you there as a customer. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated with a lovely, calming ambience to enable you to enjoy your food even more. Please, just go there and see for yourself. We’re definitely...

Kar Bon tries hard to look sophisticated — minimalist decor, modern layout, and an expensive menu — but sadly, it fails to deliver where it matters most: on the plate.
We tried several dishes, and none lived up to the prices or the promise: • 🦪 Grilled razor clams with light “pil pil” and Palmero pepper (€28): underseasoned and bland. Where was the fire? Where was the punch of the pepper? • 🐙 Octopus skewer with spice and honey glaze (€24): sweet without balance, lacking any real depth or contrast. • 🥗 “Kar Bon” salad (€20): supposedly “the best of garden and sea,” but really just a confused combination of ingredients with no direction. • 🐟 Catch of the day with sea chimichurri (€44/kg): fresh fish, sure — but prepared with no finesse and served with a sauce that felt more like a supermarket dressing than something crafted by a chef.
As for the space: yes, it’s clean and modern. But it’s also cold, monotonous, and completely lacks identity. You could be anywhere. There’s no sense of place, no warmth, no connection to the local environment or to the concept of charcoal cooking it claims to honor.
💸 Conclusion: Kar Bon is all about presentation — stylish dishes, high prices, and elegant branding. But the soul of a restaurant is in the flavor, the story, the care. And here, none of that comes through. It’s forgettable...
