Single woman with children got attacked by the manager who wrestled me to the floor. Just ate at this restaurant, single mum with two SEND children. Very tasty meal but after the ordeal I had with the manager I would urge everyone to avoid. Especially the English as the manager was very comfortable vocalising his racist views of the English. Upon entering this restaurant my non verbal autistic daughter stood at the foot of another couples table eyeing up a dish they had. The manager was standing there and they all had a laugh about it. I ordered for the children to share a focaccia, beef ragu and asked the waitress to bring the dish what the couple had on their table and I ordered the talbot. When the food arrived a completely different dish to what the couple had arrived…veal eye in a cream sauce and I sent it straight back with the waiter explaining that’s not what I ordered. He said the couple had two dishes and that was one of them and the other dish being croquettes. I didn’t think much of it, thought they’d bring out the croquettes or just take the wrong dish off the bill. The croquettes didn’t come out and we ate the rest of the meal which was lovely. The bill had the veal eye on it. I said to the waitress that needs to come off the bill and she went and spoke to the manager and returned saying I apologise my English is a bit confused but the manager says you have to pay the entire bill. Now I always tip and I am fair. Had it come off the bill they would of got it back in a tip and I would of come back as the food was nice but this managers bullish behaviour was unacceptable. I didn’t realise there were two dishes on the table, nor did the waitress point out they had two dishes and confirm which one I was asking for. The bill was €98 and the incorrect dish was €17. I waited 10 minutes for the manager to come over and when he did he said it’s my fault and I have to pay the full amount. I offered to pay for what we had and split the difference on the wrong dish and he said you English think you can do what you want, this is Spain and you will pay. At this point I said I’d pay for what I had on the bill or nothing at all and his response was he was calling the police. I said go ahead. He said they’d be 25 minutes. I said you’ve got my name that’s my hotel there. Tell them to come speak to me there. As I walked off he jumped into the front of my pushchair with my children in it and my 4 year old son had his hands up pleading at him to go away. After going round in circles with the same argument over whose mistake it was he wrestled me to the floor to tap my AMEX. He managed to get the €98 euros. A man came running over to get him away from me. I’d think twice before eating here especially if you’re English and if you are a woman on your own. Feeling very sick now. Not sure if the cause of this is from the stress of what just happened or...
Read moreThis was our second visit to this restaurant, the venue itself is good with a modern feel about it. Our first visit in jan 2023 last year was very good, hence the return this year. Unfortunately since our last visit the food and service have significantly gone down hill. The service was terrible we waited over an hour to have our order taken , with an overstretched waiter running around like a headless chicken telling customers that they were under staffed however several tables were served before us. Many of our table work in the service industry and know what it is like to be understaffed but all he was doing was projecting his anxiety on to the customer, he repeatedly missed parts of the order, would constantly bang on about prices on certain dishes increasing when no one had ordered those dishes, shouting drinks menus across the room ,at first I had quite a bit of sympathy for him, but in the end it was painful to watch, and he reminded me of a rather sweaty unfunny Basel Fawlty on a come down from the night before moving awkwardly around the room. When the food finally arrived many of us were left very underwhelmed. This restaurant is a traditional Italian, so don’t expect Americanized Italian dishes knee deep in sauce. Traditional Italian is subtle flavours that work well together with good fresh ingredients, cooked well. the focaccia bread that was brought out before the main course was very good, soft and well baked but only 7 pieces on a table of 8. but the pizza we had for Main course was shocking. The base had been cooked then left to sit for too long so felt tough and stall the ingredients in my case salted beef and packet yellow mozzarella had been thrown on and then reheated. Resulting in a bland tough garlic bread like pizza with a piece of chewy salted beef on each segment. Restaurant if you can’t do proper Italian right don’t bother, just do American Italian, the sauces will hide some of your mistakes. It was eaten as by this stage we were 2 hrs in and hungry but it was hard going, others with pizza had the same experience. We chose not to have coffee or dessert. We did raise our concerns on the night, and at no point asked for a discount, though one should have been offered, but once again we’re palmed off by arrogant staff. It is a real shame what has happened to this once great restaurant, now all style and no substance. I really hope the owners get a handle on the situation and bring it back to where...
Read moreWe turned up without any reservation - we didn't know that we had to as we had only seen the restaurant on passing. The man that we spoke to was very pleasant and said that he would have a table in 5 to 10 minutes, and we were happy to wait. It was not even 5 minutes before we were shown a table. The same man asked us about drinks and we wanted wine, my wife chose one and we were told that it was a bit sweet and we should try. He brought some out, and we agreed and chose another. Then another waiter appeared, saying, "Sorry, sorry..." like he should have been waiting our table, but we told him that we had already ordered drinks. He was very hectic but disappeared again quickly. We ordered food which came quite quickly (delivered by someone else) and it was delicious, the food was excellent and no complaints at all. The hectic waiter took away our plates, and as the food was not exactly huge portions, we decided to have a desert. 'Hectic waiter' came back and practically threw the menus on the table and nearly knocked over a glass of water - he didn't even look. Based on that, we decided that we just wanted to pay and leave. The guy that showed us to our table and was really nice, he was front of house and I probably should have communicated what was wrong, he could tell that we were not happy but we just wanted to go. We have noticed that attention by waiting staff is different in Tenerife but this guy was rushing and it looked like we didn't matter. Our money is as good as anyone else's, anyone that does not want it is fine with us but following covid, I would have thought that even a full restaurant would be grateful for the business. I expect to be treated the same way as everyone else, but it was lost business from us for this restaurant. There was no issue with the food or the first guy; this was all down to the hectic waiter and rushing, but I don't expect menus to be thrown on tables and glasses of water nearly knocked over. We are only in Tenerife for a week; we wanted something a little more up market and not your usual fare of Brits having chips with everything for my wife's birthday, but we left disappointed. We felt like we were a nuisance because we had not reserved. Great food, nice atmosphere but because of one waiter , the service...
