We recently had the pleasure of dining at Mamut Asador, being ardent fans of the Grupo La Brasa restaurants. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Upon arrival, we were immediately captivated by the stunning location. The design seamlessly blends furniture, glassware, and plates with the open space and natural light, creating an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere. The staff, including the manager and waiters, were exceptionally attentive and kind. Their professionalism shone through in their detailed presentation of the menu’s delectable offerings and their expert wine recommendations from an extensive list. Now, let's talk about the food—an absolute highlight! We started with the octopus, accompanied by a delightful alioli foam and carrots. The flavors were exquisite and set the stage for what was to come. For the main course, we opted for the Turbot Fish. It was cooked to perfection, surpassing any fish we have tasted in Tenerife. The preparation and flavor were truly unmatched. Regrettably, time constraints prevented us from sampling the dessert menu. However, this gives us the perfect reason to return at the earliest opportunity. Mamut Asador is highly recommended for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience.

We are new to the Tenerife area and recently had dinner at Nub, a Michelin star restaurant near our hotel. On a random conversation with the chefs, we asked where they eat themselves, and were told to visit Mamut. We were absolutely over the moon with the selection of food options and portion sizes that could easily feed two with each plate. My husband enjoyed the suckling Lamb and was utterly impressed by the beautiful Rioja suggested to accompany it. The squid was equally divine - lightly battered just how we like it. You may think that good food has to cost a pretty penny, but this certainly is not the case with Mamut. In fact that beautiful Rioja cost less per glass than it does at our hotel. We are already looking forward to another dinner here before we depart. Apparently there’s also a few more restaurants in their ‘group’, we are aiming to try these too; Salitre, Tio Martin and La Brasa.

During our first visit to the restaurant for lunch, we were impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service. We tried the highly recommended tartar, which was exquisitely prepared and a must-try. The restaurant also offers a lovely terrace, ideal for a relaxed drink. Our second visit was for dinner, where we ordered steaks and the tartar again. This time, the tartar was noticeably spicier, overwhelming the meat’s natural flavors. For those with milder palates, we suggest asking the waiter to adjust the spice level. The striking food photography truly showcases the quality and presentation of the dishes. Each visit to this restaurant has been a unique culinary journey, albeit with a few spicy surprises. Also attention to details, such as perfumed wet towels was really cool.

I don’t often review a restaurant, but Mamut is a serious restaurant that has delivered in spades. I have had several meals at the restaurants in the Tivoli la Caleta as well as Bahia del Duque, which are also stellar restaurants, but this might edge them on the quality and price.

Starting with an amuse bouche of some of the best chorizo I’ve tasted, to the fresh bread that is lightly smoked from a wood fire and accompanied by farmhouse churned butter I moved on to an interesting and very satisfying starter with cubes of cured, smoked pork belly (better than bacon, with crispy crackling) on a bed of a purĂ©e of potatoes and egg yolks. It was not small, but delicious and a bit rich with the egg yolks.

I followed this with an outstanding dry-aged bone-in sirloin which was on display in their dry-aging chamber. This, too, was cooked to perfection, quite rare, but not ridiculously so (I ordered medium rare and this was just approaching that). A side of baked potatoes from a wood oven was a perfect compliment, but not what many countries would call a baked potato in the singular. Rather, it was slices of potato with some onions and peppers that had been baked in a wood oven. The wines by the glass were also a perfect accompaniment to the food. If you’re in the Costa Adeje area, particularly near playa del duque or Caleta, this is worth...

We visited Mamut Asador ContemporĂĄneo for our Christmas dinner as a family of three, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.

The steak, which should have been the highlight of the meal, was cold and undercooked when it arrived. When we brought this to the waiter’s attention, they offered to “throw it back on the flame.” The result? A hot crust but a still-cold and raw center. This was completely unacceptable, especially given the reputation of the place.

Additionally, the menu was extremely limited due to the holiday, with only a few main courses available. This might have been understandable if we had been informed at the time of making the reservation, but we weren’t, leaving us feeling blindsided.

Overall, the food, service, and lack of transparency made this an incredibly disappointing Christmas dinner. We won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting quality or...
