We found a little tapas restaurant on Google maps with good reviews and were curious to find out if it lives up to their reviews..
After making a reservation for 2 and arriving on time, we were told to wait 5 minutes because all tables were already taken. Those 5 minutes turned into 15 minutes before we were seated, no big deal. The host excused himself profoundly and offered the first drink on the house as a compensation, which was a nice gesture and shows that this is not their habit.
The tables are all outdoors at the back of the restaurant which is a bit unfortunate as you're next to the exit of the kitchen of the other restaurant. If they could find a way to separate their terrace from this location it would be a very big improvement for the atmosphere. The service is rather slow and can feel sometimes chaotic but the staff fully embraces it which makes it very tolerable.
The menu has around 30 different dishes ans is very varied so everyone should be able to find something to their liking. They recommend 3-4 dishes per person but we took 2 per person to start. First came the meat croquettes, which you could really taste they were freshly homemade. The olive and tomato flatbread came next and was very well made, and had a well selected mix of ingredients to make it very tasty. Last but not least, came the papas bravas and the fish of the day which were in the same line as the pervious dishes and were excellently seasoned.
If you can look past the basic decorative style and manage the atmosphere of controlled chaos, you will find a restaurant with a good selection of high quality dishes for a very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow wow wow!!!!! Andy we were both blown away with the plates and the service we had last night. We had five different dishes and each one was stunning, it would be unfair to rank them, each plate was that good. Fried cod, King prawns and garlic, Aubergine parmesan, Lamb cutlets, Chorizo, and we left just enough room for a sublime mango cheesecake and two Barraquitos ( made by Andy's wife ) they were the nicest ones we've ever had. A beautiful bottle of Protos that really hit the mark. As it was getting a little chilly we moved inside to have our dessert and we had the pleasure of watching the kitchen crew at work, they certainly know what they're doing, complements to all of you. And how can we leave out the main man Andy, your a top bloke and it takes a lot of guts and effort to open a restaurant. You and your wife have made a fantastic success with Tasca and we wish you more success in the years ahead. One thing i noticed while we were there was that it seemed to be tourists only, ourselves included, well the locals need to get down to Tasca La Vida, they don't know what they're missing so spread the word. Until next time Andy, keep doing what you're doing ššš Many...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were in Costa Adeje, Tenerife for our honeymoon, and we found Tasca la Vida as a top restaurant on Trip Advisor, so we had to give it a try. The food here was probably the highlight of our dining in Tenerife. Since everything was served tapas style, we were able to try multiple dishes.
The owners of the restaurant were quite friendly, and they provided great recommendations on their menu. We tried the Fresh Fish of the Day when we were told they had one left, and it was delicious! We also loved the Fried Cod & Aioli. The Authentic Spanish Beef Stew reminded me of something I might have found on a menu in the UK, and was also very tasty. The Spanish Cheese Board had a collection of delicious cheeses and meats, and it included palm "honey" - extracto de palma canaria - which is actually syrup extracted from palm trees on La Gomera. It was a delicious complement to the breads, fruits, cheeses, and meats on the plate.
The owners were so kind and welcoming and really made the experience even more elevated. We had so much fun dining at...
