Spiga — Restaurant in Alicante

I was very disappointed with my experience here based on what I had seen on previous reviews stating that there were vegan options.

There were no vegan options listed on the menu, only a few vegetarian ones. Service was quite unfriendly as well. When I asked for the allergen menu, stating I was vegan, our server impatiently said "we don't have much for vegans" in a very brusque manner, without offering to adapt any dishes. I found the service to be quite rude and unfriendly in general.

The only dishes that I was able to adapt to make vegan was the Sicilian salad and the vegetarian pizza, by omitting the cheese. Even then, when I asked about whether the pizza crust contained dairy products, our server said "minimal" but seemed to imply that no dairy ingredients were used in the recipe - I assume she meant that it may contain traces of dairy (so avoid if you have a dairy allergy).

The salad and vegetarian pizza without cheese were still quite tasty. However, you can definitely find much better vegan food in Alicante and I wouldn't recommend...

My dining experience at Spiga restaurant in Alicante was nothing short of exceptional.

I had the pleasure of savoring the Tagliatelle with Buttata, a dish that perfectly showcased the chef's culinary expertise.

Good wine. Great tasting food and good options if you want more than just pizza. Better prices than the ones next door to this place. Staff are very friendly and efficient but we were early for dinner! From looking at the some of the photos it looks like this place has been recently refurbished giving a lovely vibe for dinner. We even got a free limoncello after paying our bill, so I think either management and staff have took on the negative reviews from the past or it's recently been taken over as my duck was scrumptious and the cod was fresh and had a wonderful balance of flavours. Would go back to try something different. Please like of you agree and had a good experience too :)

2022 update: you need to book in advance during busy periods to avoid disappointment as they have limited tables during peak times. Saw a lot of people being turned away due to reservations.
