My experience at Bar "La Chumbera" has been a roller coaster of emotions. On the one hand, I must admit that the breakfasts they serve are delicious; Everything is prepared with care and good flavor. However, my enjoyment is overshadowed by the unfortunate attitude of the waiter or owner of the establishment.
On more than one occasion, I have witnessed how the waiter or owner, instead of focusing on serving customers, prefers to prioritize serving his friends. This translates into poor treatment of those of us who are there to enjoy a quiet and pleasant breakfast. Worst of all, when he is with his friends, he constantly raises his voice, attracting the attention of everyone in the room and creating an uncomfortable and inappropriate atmosphere for breakfast.
I understand that it is natural for owners or servers to socialize with their friends in their own establishment, but this should not interfere with the quality of customer service. The unprofessionalism and rude attitude of the waiter or owner towards customers who are trying to enjoy their food is unacceptable.
In short, although the breakfasts at Bar "La Chumbera" are delicious, the experience is marred by poor service and lack of respect on the part of the waiter or owner. I sincerely hope that steps will be taken to improve customer service and to ensure that all customers can enjoy a pleasant and satisfying experience at the...
Read moreLa Chumbera became our go to breakfast place when we visited Almeria - it's reasonably priced, does nice coffees, and has a wide array of tostadas and other breakfast goodies available!
I'd especially recommend the tostadas, which is a fairly common Spanish breakfast - as the name suggests, it's toasted bread with an array of toppings such as tomato, ham, cheese etc. They range from the slightly fancier and more expensive (such as some of the posher hams), to the more basic (such as butter or oil). They also do croissants, which can be filled with cheese and or ham, and other breakfast goodies (but we mainly stuck with the tostadas!)
The coffees were nice, and the service we found to be good too, even when the place was busy (some morning we had to eat inside, some days we could eat at the outside tables). If in a rush, you can also just pay at the till too.
Overall, a really nice and relaxed place to start a...
