Restaurante Matilde — Restaurant in Aranjuez

Came here after visiting the royal palace which was just across the street. It was located on the river. I think if u reserve ahead of time you can score a table with a view. The decor was lovely and aircon was on which was much appreciated on a hot Wednesday in June. Ushered to our seats immediately despite not having any reservations. We ordered the menu del dia for 15.95 euros each that included appetizer, main and dessert. A nice loaf of bread and drink was included too. I was immediately impressed by the table cloth and place setting and the fact that the restaurant was bustling with locals. Very elegant and comfortable. The drinks were delicious and generous. We ordered tinto verano and vino tinto. Food we got were all made with very fresh ingredients and the portions were generous for the price. Appitizer- we had pasta and salad, all very delicious and good portions. For main, I ordered the fish with salad which was surprisingly larger portion compared to the pork cheeks and chicken. For dessert we had flan with whipped cream, very good choice for us since we are not into super sweet desserts. Service was very good and our servers were friendly and helpful. Sin duda ninguna, un lugar al que recomiendo encarecidamente visitar.

He ido en dos ocasiones (aprovecho para indicar que las fotos, no son todas del mismo día). La primera vez pedimos para compartir unas patatas con crujiente de jamón por encima, que sin duda ninguna, les doy un 10, ya no solo por el sabor, sino por el hecho de haber conseguido hacer de un plato tan simple, uno realmente espectacular que destaca del resto de sitios donde he podido probar platos similares.

De segundo pedí un entrecot al punto, cual debo decir que estaba realmente bueno y bien cocinado, vino con guarnición de patatas (abundante y la verdad, muy buena), que desde luego, no tiene nada que ver con el típico plato que te pides en cualquier bar. Las patatas caseras a mi parecer, y el entrecot acompañado de queso por encima que le daba un sabor muy bueno.

Por último, pude probar un daiquiri, cual prepararon con fresa y la verdad, estaba suave y con un sabor bastante intenso. Bien preparado y muy bien presentado.

El segundo día, pedimos una ensalada Matilde, cual a mi sorpresa llevaba frutos secos y granada, acompañado también con salsa (alineada) y queso de cabra. Realmente me sorprendió gratamente la idea, felicitaciones.

De segundo pedí un risotto, cual debo decir que estaba bien preparado y muy bien presentado, pero quizás lo encontré un poco más pastoso y de sabor estaba bueno, pero no diría que fuera nada a destacar. Diría que está bien en general, pero no espectacular en sí.

Por último, probé la caipirinha. Y aquí he de decir que fue todo un acierto, tanto en presentación como en sabor, muy bien preparada y refrescante, sin duda ninguna la recomiendo.

También he de decir, que a pesar de no probar ni las hamburguesas ni los calamares a la plancha, tenían una pinta espectacular, y según hablé con mis amigos, no pudieron sacar ninguna queja de sus platos, y sin duda ninguna acabaron satisfechos con ellos.

Sobre el precio. Me parece que es un restaurante de calidad, no me parece precisamente barato, pero merece muchísimo la pena en calidad/precio, y sin duda volveré.

A destacar también que la atención del personal fue perfecta en todo momento y que el sitio se encuentra en un lugar privilegiado, con unas vistas increíbles al río, siendo un lugar tranquilo y muy bien decorado.

Lovely decor and terraces. It was nice to have the cool water fans and sprays set up for such a warm summers day. The toilets were some of the poshest I have seen. Service was a little slow, they seemed short on staff maybe? Then when we were served both times they forgot part of the order and also seemed a little disinterested as if work was going through the motions. There was no coffee. Strange as all the time I have lived/worked/visited Spain, I've not known a bar unable to serve you coffee. No reason was given.
