Restaurante KIKIRIKI — Restaurant in Arona

We were a party of 6 on a weeknight. Heard good things about this place from local friends and was curious to find it's flavors. A bit disappointed to be honest and here's why.

We started with Spinach cream, Leek & Prawn quiche, and deep fried Camembert cheese. My favorite was the quiche which was fantastic, then spinach cream which tasted much like spinach dip from the States.

Four out of 6 of us had their chicken specialty. While the rotisserie chicken tasted nice, I didn't feel it was much special. 4 sauces they brought out was ok... nothing special in my opinion. Our 2 friends had their BBQ meat- Filet Mignon. I had to try a bite... and frankly, I had much better. The mixed salad we had with the meal was already dressed... seemingly Caesar dressing which was nice enough but little much dressing for my liking.

Service overall was not so great, getting our drink orders wrong or staff bickering in Spanish in front of their guests was not my forte.

Prices on the chicken felt overpriced as you can get the half chicken for less while Filet mignon was less than you would find elsewhere.

Our bill became about 38-39 euros per person which included 2 bottles of wine, 1 horrible house (box) wine some coffee, and chupitos which seemed high for an...

Don't want to damn with faint praise - but what Nando's should be like. Go here for their roast chicken and from their wide sauce selection choose their own KikiRiki one - cream, garlic & tarragon. They have other main dishes, but this is what makes them unique and keeps me coming back. This time visited on a Sunday after seeing they seemingly offer "40% off" - couldn't believe it, wouldn't have minded in the least if it wasn't true (it's not expensive) - but it was. 40% off starters and mains if you spend €12 a head. Seeing as there was a discount, splurged beyond my normal Pan Con Tomate starter and the creamed spinach and canarian potato side for my 1/2 chicken and we got the Iberican ham starter as well. I cannot express how good that was - whole plate covered in scalloped wafer slices of pig-perfection. Had such a good meal I decided to have a dessert for the first time - and had their homemade apple tart which was maybe vying for the highlight of the whole meal - perfect thin pastry, sweet compote base, lightly caramelized apple slices with a bit of bite on the top. Fresh off the plane we found this place near our accommodation and were seated immediately. Ordered steak with lemon sauce, garlic potatoes and a pizza.

The place was busy so service was slow but the servers were great and the food was exceptionally well cooked. Reasonably priced at approximately €38, including 1/2 jug of sangria and a glass of Fanta.
