La Cofradía — Restaurant in Arona

What follows is the initial review that I wrote after visiting the restaurant in the evenings. "Absolutely fabulous restaurant, found quite by chance but have returned on 3 occasions. The menu is plentiful and the food delicious. Cocktails are humongous and the addition of a free brandy or Bailey's at the end of the meal is a generous touch. We have eaten both from the great value, 3 courses for 11.50 menu and from the a la carte and both are great."

However, having decided to pop in for a last visit on our way to the airport at lunchtime I have to say that our experience was quite different. It was very quiet but despite this the service was poor with lots of mistakes made. The cocktail we ordered was way smaller than the one we had received the evening before despite being the same price. My meal choice, the half of a roast chicken was clearly a reheated leftover from the night before as it was not only extremely dry and burnt, it also contained some tin foil, which presumably had been covering it, which I only found when eating. We spontaneously decided to eat here this evening. Since the restaurant's location is currently situated next to a construction site, it doesn't have the best view, but we weren't disturbed by that:) We each got the 3 course menu. Don't be fooled by the low price because it was simply amazing! We both got the garlic shrimps for starters and ordered some extra bread on the side to fully enjoy the delicious garlic oil. The shrimps were very fresh and cooked to perfection. For the main course, we got the fish and chips and the seafood paella (for which you have to pay a little extra, which is totally fair for the amount of food you get). Both dishes were amazing and generous in size. For the fish and chips, we wouldn't have minded some sauce like tartar / remoulade, but since mayonnaise and ketchup were available at the table, I didn't mind too much. For desert, we both got the caramel flan, which was tasty as well. We even got offered a free shot on the house when we paid, which they also poured generously. So disappointed! Chicken stroganoff was the most tasteless, unappetising meal I've ever had and the mushroom pieces were bigger than the chicken! . Had to send the rice back because it was cold and when they brought it back it was just a big clump. You don't get a choice between chips (frozen French fries) or canarian potatoes (again cold). The salad is just peas and sweetcorn mixed with mayonnaise. The apple pie for dessert was the smallest slice I've ever seen. The 'free' baileys at the end of the meal served with the bill was so obviously watered down.
