Sax bar was on my list of spots to visit whilst on holiday in Tenerife, it had also been recommended to me by a friend. I was so excited to visit, this is not a review I wanted to wite as I so badly wanted to enjoy it here. On our first visit here, we chose a seat and had someone come to take our order within a few minutes. My boyfriend was feeling a little off at the time so didn't want to drink, I ordered a disaronno & coke and a water. I was a little shocked to find it was nearly 10 Euro and I'm 90% sure it was just amaretto. For such a small place, the bar staff are constantly walking past your table, staring at your drinks to see how much you have left. This made me feel uncomfortable because I was reluctant to order another drink until I knew my partner felt okay to stay. We left and tried again on a different day, this time we were given a "cocktail" menu. I say that in quotations because theyre nothing more than a spirit and a mixer in a different glass. 21 Euro for two. I had visited fancy cocktail bars with actual mixologists that didn't charge this much. However, we wanted to stay for the band this time so ordered another two drinks. The band was the same band as the previous time and also played a few of the same songs. The sound in there is quite bad, almost like teenagers playing band in a garage. The staff are not hospitable. The toilet is through a courtyard and looks a little shifty. Overall it's a very dive/dingy place, which would be fine if I was paying prices that reflected this. However I went to Bulls Head in the same holiday, got stronger drinks for cheaper and a great sounding AC/DC tribute band. Maybe consider spending your money...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews my wife and me decided to seek this bar out. The staff are very welcoming and fast with the orders. The free cocktail shot as described in a previous review wasn’t. It was a cheap none alcohol very sweet syrup drink.(not really bothered about that). But was disappointed with the rock music playing on screens. It was on a 1 hour loop. Come on they can do better than that. Any decent rock fan could probably play many hours worth of rock videos. As for the band again disappointing the drummer come lead singer was drowning out the guitar players. Most rock is about the guitar playing, but couldn’t hear the guitar playing due to the drumming over powering the guitars. My view is that either the place has gone down since the last lot of reviews or the people writing the reviews have had a very bad rock venues at home to compare. And yes we tried it two nights both nights were the same. Very...
Read moreDecent bar, and thankfully play my favourite genre of music so was quite happy enjoying the playlist that was on. Didn’t see the live band as we left before they played.
We were in a large group so service was quick with the free shot afterwards. I did feel though that the staff seemed to be paying more attention to those who were drinking alcohol and kept asking if they wanted more + clearing glasses swiftly after they were finished. I wasn’t asked if I wanted another, in comparison to the rest of the group. Not sure if the first impressions of me put the staff off (I wasn’t feeling too well so wasn’t really with it) so it felt like the service wasn’t the same when drinking a soft drink.
I would come back, hopefully when I’m feeling less sick and try one of the cocktails as they did look nice from seeing other customers...
