DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. ALWAYS READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING. I came on vacation with my girlfriend and coming back to the hotel has been a nightmare for the most part. I tell you why - Cons: 1. The bathroom isn’t stylist at all and it’s not modern. 2. The rooms need to be refurbished. There was a lamp at the top of my head so getting up from bed always hits my head. 3. I had cockroaches every night at 4am creeping from the entrance room door. I told the reception about it everyday and they didn’t take it serious at all. I even had to buy my own cleaning products to clean my room myself doing there job for them. On the last day I saw the engineer and the exterminator check my room as I’m about to check out so obviously they didn’t take anything serious. Then I told the receptionist (Front of house manger - Natalia) and the first thing she said was “you should have asked for another room”. That is very bad customer service especially if someone is a manager, the staff should be offering it, not me asking especially on the first day I complained. I staying her for 5nights and 6days. When I got back up to speak to the manager Natalia she was still very denial about it and wasn’t taking any consideration she was arguing with me and then her colleague got up from his chair and removed his name badge and starting arguing with me too. I don’t know his name because there was no badge but it was old. He started twisting the conversation saying I had a problem with the housekeeping lady and I asked him what problem do I have. He said “you know what problem” so he is making up lies instead of proof facts. He even threatened to call the police the man said “I could even call the police so I suggest you keep it quiet” then I said “oh is it Because I’m black” they both said at the same time “Nooo”. I said I am coming here to make a complaint about my room and you’re here giving me a harder time. There is no need for this. Then I walked off in disgust and disbelief and in shock. Me working at a 5star hotel I know what is required. Especially this place is meant to be represented as a 4star hotel so this place is definitely not that, it is a 3 star or less. I know this company won’t take this complaint serious because there are so many other complaints on google maps reviews so this is here for the people to be aware of what your booking before buying a hotel room check thoroughly first and weigh out your options first. We knew what we wanted but if I read the reviews sooner and saw that there is cockroaches I wouldn’t have booked this place at all especially it being close to the strip coz it’s dirty outside. Don’t care about the noise just the hygiene. Please don’t be like us what we went through…. 4. They always leave the main entrance door open for the roaches to come in. I didn’t think they was inside but being at the checkout area for 4hours I see why they come to peoples rooms. 5. This place is more for friends or couples hotel DEFINITELY NOT FOR A FAMILY HOTEL. 6. The lifeguard told me to stop playing my own music at the pool area when you see other people exposing themselves on the sunbed. They even walked pasted the lady and didn’t say anything I feel like it’s discrimination to be honest. 7. The two staff Natalia manger and the old man siting next to her. Had very bad attitude. They need training on customer service and how to act in a so called “4 star” hotel. Respect and duty of care. 8. I have to buy 3 of my own small bottles of alcohol and disinfectant spray to clean the room. Wasting my own money so that means the rooms are not clean properly. 9. To top it, Natalia said they don’t have no record of my room 704 having cockroaches. After reporting it the first day and to clean my room many times.

I want to start this review by saying I am not a snob and regularly stay at 3 or 4 star hotels and have a great holiday, however, this was not the case at Sol Tenerife. It's really hard to understand how they've kept their 4☆ rating since the 80s. I WISH I'd listened to the terrible reviews. We arrived on boxing day and our first red flag was that our friends had already changed hotels by the time we arrived. This was not a good hotel for an adult let alone a 4 year old. We checked in smoothly and the staff here in my opinion are kind and helpful. We were given a room in block A with ocean views, so the views were breathtaking. We always heard the noise from the strip. Upon checking in and exiting the lift onto the 4th floor and seeing the corridor carpet and decor I knew I'd messed up booking this place. I'll attach photos. The carpet staining was disgusting 🫣 Our room was standard but fine. The furniture hasn't been updated since construction obviously. I was pleasantly surprised to find a fridge in our room however when I opened the fridge the shelf just collapsed. There are 2 pools, one heated apparently and one not. The non heated pool looks patchy and filthy and I regularly saw cleaners around the pool using the pool to fill their mop buckets on a morning. The tiles around the pools are in dire need of replacing with some chipped. The sunbed wars on a morning prevented us from getting a lounger by the heated pool but by this time we'd given in on the hotel and were going to our friends hotel. Food- Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice. Lunch- only went in one lunch time. I tried a chicken burger and realised it was pink and raw. Bars- what bars? Lol. On the hotel description there are a few bars but when you arrive yiu quickly realise there is only one bar which is outdoor. As you can imagine, the entertainment is outside too which is INSANE when in December it is hot throughout the day but freezing at night. I had to purchase a coat to be able to sit at the bar! So for the final most devastating thing that floored me- We returned to our hotel one afternoon and saw ambulances present. Upon going into the pool area it became evident someone had drown. After talking to guests the woman had had a siezure in the pool and apparently the lifeguards didn't notice in time, nor did they know what to do. They didn't know how or panicked when trying to resuscitate her and their lack of experience and young ages made it evident and clear that they only had recieved basic training. I've been a lifeguard and in my current job, first aid and cpr are administered daily and it astounds me that these companies employ extremely young people to take on such hard, emotional jobs like cpr. Companies should be making sure that they are providing adequate training for their job role and it's efficient and thorough. When you consider that we paid £2000 for 4 nights at this hotel, it's absolutely shocking. There are around 600 rooms and if everyone on average is paying £1000 pppw or £2000 per couple, the owners MELIA could comfortably make improvements but they chose just to take their patrons money. This in my opinion is a 2☆ property and I know the ratings are based on facilities but most of the facilities advertised here were unusable and dilapidated. I travel around 6 times a year, tenerife twice a year, and this is the worst hotel I've been to in my life. I want to end this review on a positive note though. I found all staff friendly, unlike other reviews I've read, and helpful. The cleaner on level 4 was one of the most polite, friendly cleaners I've ever met and our brief chats of teaching her new words were enjoyable. The room was dated but clean.

First of all, I have to say that I should have read the reviews before making the reservation. My bad. And when I read the hotel’s response to the negative reviews, they are not even questioning themselves nor showing a bit of intention to improve. I don’t want such response from the hotel manager. Some concrete actions would be more appropriate « We are planning to renovate our hotel, make them look clean and up to date ! Or lower our price to reflect the hotel ». You are responding on the only positive comment we make. You cannot only sell your hotel because of the nice view !!! This is lying. And people saying that their stay was the great are people who never travelled in their lives and don’t have any standards. We came several times to Tenerife as it is such a beautiful place with pleasant people and nice weather all year long. We change hotel every time and this is the worse of our choices so far. I am not saying one should not stay there, but if you don’t care about a good experience, then it’s your choice. We chose it for its location in front of a nice sand beach, unfortunately, it was far from the relaxing experience I was hoping for. From the moment we arrived, we felt the receptionist was fed up, doing the minimum to check us in and seeming annoyed at their job. No explanation about facilities was given, we seemed to bother. The room itself was very small and in poor condition, as if it hadn’t been maintained in years. The balcony door was so rusty it couldn’t be opened. There’s no modernity. No charging cables for phones (in 2024 !!), only one plug far from everything in the bedroom. Even the boiler in the room didn’t reach it, we had to put it on the floor to heat water to make a tea ! The fridge in the room can be a good idea, but it is falling apart and a strange wire was hanging inside the freezer and the temperature knob was broken not to say that all our food got frozen ! I was scared touching anything and get a electroshock ! The bathroom was not better. There’s clearly a structural issue with the dirty ceiling that almost collapsed on our heads. The toilet flush not working properly. Not very ecological to flush several times! While the view of the sea was nice, light sleepers should beware: the noise from nearby « Veronica’s » area discos and bars was so loud, going on until at least 4 a.m. each night. If you’re hoping to catch up on rest, you may want to reconsider staying here. But again, it might be Ok for you. We got offered drug and girls just walking by the area. Note for locals : This is sad Tenerife is selling themselves as a drunk place. Alcool is advertised at every corner. Teenagers’ age are not checked. They just give away alcool and try to attract you with cocktails everywhere. Government should do something about it. Back inside the hotel, the Breakfast was decent with a variety of options. There were also daily activities, but when we asked for more details, the reception staff seemed clueless and unable to help. Overall, this hotel has a lot to improve in both hospitality and maintenance. For the price, I expected a much better experience. The difference between Sol Tenerife and top 4 stars hotels is that Top hotels pay close attention to the details, when appearances seem more important here with no intention to improve. All the best !

Upon reading some pretty horrific comments the day we arrived here this is the review you need!|Location - on the strip so every nightclub , shop, fast food outlet you could need. 5 stars. |Hotel - extremely dated. We travelled in a family of 5 - 2 people in 60s, 2 people in 30s and 9 year old child. The whole hotel needs a massive refurb. Space is not used to its potential at all. Would not bother with the games room or evening entertainment at all. We arrived after midnight on Friday night (early hours of Saturday morning) ahead of arriving we emailed to say please can we upgrade to sea view rooms next to each. Upon arrival we arrived to a pretty hasty receptionist that said “no free upgrades” and half the party was in block A and the other in block B considering this was a family holiday it really started the holiday off on the wrong foot being split!! After a very broken English 30 minute conversation we managed to upgrade to a full sea view and side sea view. 11th floor rooms 1145 & 1144. 1145 is the best in my opinion with a kitchenette, amazing balcony space and great views. It cost us (€420 to upgrade both rooms for a week) If you are here for a clubbing holiday and just need somewhere to put your head down you don’t need to do this. But well worth it if you are family that will spend more time in the rooms. All facilities within the room work well including shower, WiFi, fridge etc. midges & mosquitos are a massive problem on the balconies and even in reception. From someone that never suffers problems with bites I was covered head to toe from the first night I sat on the balcony. The strip is extremely noise until 5/6am however with the balcony doors shut it didn’t affect our sleep. Air con is rubbish and I asked for maintenance to visit twice!! I don’t think it worked at all in room 1144 but 1145 was so powerful they often had theirs off. Overall this hotel is rated 4 star and I would say it’s a uk 2 star at best. That being said the hotel is clean including pool areas, everything just looks tired shabby and in need of a facelift. Maids are amazing our room was cleaned with fresh bedding everyday. Hotel entertainment is basic my son particularly enjoyed the magic show one night and another act with 2 females that done tricks with hula hoops and walking on glass. Aside from that very “average” entertainment with not many people watching. Again bugs & insects are a problem. |Food - great selection of foods and puddings available however by the 3rd/4th day it’s just constantly repeated. We did particularly enjoy breakfast with a wide selection of different pastries everyday and Mexican night which had pork & beef fatijas. |Pools - although from afar they don’t look the cleanest the pool maintenance guy was amazing I saw him scrubbing in his waders every morning around 5am. Top tip is use the pool that has the bar attached to it. Lots of activities at 3pm that my son loved however very strict rules like no floaties, balls etc allowed in the pool. Strict rules on smoking and where’s allowed - I didn’t mind this but others in my party found it annoying. You’re not allowed to bring food from the restaurant outside at all, if you do get food from the pool bar you can only eat in certain areas. |Receptionist/ s - we only had one that was super helpful. Everyone else English was a problem and they told us wrong / conflicting information |Outings - we done the 2 day park trip - lore park and Siam park. We loved both and had full days out at both however public transport is an issue. I would highly suggest Ubers / taxis. We also visited the market in adeje which was great but so so hot!! Make sure to haggle!! Some things we were quoted almost €50 to only pay €20 so make sure you get your monies worth! We went down to the harbour which was beautiful found a local restaurant for tapas. Party members state it has the cheapest tobacco products around if that’s what you’re looking for! And cost is around €7 for a taxi. |All in all as already stated the hotel is in desperate need of a refurb but for a family holiday my child was always entertained and the weather was magnificent||Main problem with this hotel. It has so many young users that were so disrespectful. Screaming / swearing and loud music from as early as 5am in the morning all the way through 3am at night! People knocking on doors or using speakers that are so loud on the balconies and hotel staff not being able to...

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. ALWAYS READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING. I came on vacation with my girlfriend and coming back to the hotel has been a nightmare for the most part. I tell you why -

Cons: The bathroom isn’t stylist at all and it’s not modern. The rooms need to be refurbished. There was a lamp at the top of my head so getting up from bed always hits my head. They always leave the main entrance door open for the roaches to come in. I didn’t think they was inside but being at the checkout area for 4hours I see why they come to peoples rooms. This place is more for friends or couples hotel DEFINITELY NOT FOR A FAMILY HOTEL. The lifeguard told me to stop playing my own music at the pool area when you see other people exposing themselves on the sunbed. They even walked pasted the lady and didn’t say anything I feel like it’s discrimination to be honest. The two staff Natalia manger and the old man siting next to her. Had very bad attitude. They need training on customer service and how to act in a so called “4 star” hotel. Respect and duty of care. I have to buy 3 of my own small bottles of alcohol and disinfectant spray to clean the room. Wasting my own money so that means the rooms are not clean properly.

To top it, Natalia said they don’t have no record of my room 704 having cockroaches. After reporting it the first day and to clean my...

Didn’t have the best experience here. My boyfriend and his family were staying in a different hotel down the road and I got booked onto the holiday later and this was the only hotel available at a reasonable price. I wish we would have paid even more for a better hotel now. Staying there alone for two nights was terrifying someone tried to open my door twice! So after that we had to then pay for my boyfriend to stay with me on top of him already paying for my hotel room and his own one with his family. He had to stay with me as I didn’t feel safe and even when he was staying with me countless people banged or pushed on our door at random times.

The rooms are shocking for a 4 star hotel we had one plug for the whole room and it was miles away from the bed, good job I have a long charger. The rest of the plugs had things hanging out of them or were broken. As you walked into the room every single day for the 2 week stay the smell was awful it was so musty. The balcony was also quite dangerous as some of the floor tiles where coming up and one of the screws in the railings where coming off from the wall and we where on the third floor. Over the two week stay me and my boyfriend probably killed around 15 bugs big and small. They were mostly small cockroaches and in the bathroom, apart from on the last night when we had a huge black cockroach on the balcony which was honestly terrifying as we had the door open as well. Also, the bathroom wasn’t great either there was so much mould around the bath it was quite unpleasant.

The location is great if all you want to do is go on the English strip of a night as it is literally right next door but if you don’t want to do that, then it’s awful. You 100% won’t get a good nights sleep here cause the it’s so loud with music which ends at all different times but usually early hours of the morning. Some nights it would stop at 2 in the morning and other nights we had music blasting till 4 in the morning so we were absolutely knackered.

I’m not a person who usually has problems with a hotel and when I do I just get on with them but there were that many problems with this hotel we just couldn’t look past them. Some of the reception staff really upset me and made me feel uncomfortable. In our first two days before my boyfriend stayed with me he walked me to the hotel and took me to my room but on the second day security stopped us and said he couldn’t go in which is absolutely fair enough and it was nice to know that the security in the hotel was good but I was then taken to reception and asked questions to make sure I was staying in the hotel, which was fine until two reception staff and one security guard started talking about me and my boyfriend in Spanish and I could understand most of it as I know some Spanish. I felt so uncomfortable to the point where I wanted to cry. After that we paid for my boyfriend to stay cause I just felt uncomfortable in the hotel full stop. We also spoke to the jet2 rep and mentioned it to the reception about people trying to get into my room but both were not bothered and the rep actually told us that the hotel is heavily advertised as a vibe hotel, so that is why. Surely just cause it’s a vibe hotel doesn’t mean that you should feel unsafe staying there.

If all you want for your holiday is a place to stay near the beach and near nightlife then this is the place to stay as the breakfast is actually quite good as well. But if you want to actually get a good nights sleep and have a lovely relaxing holiday with family, friends or a couples holiday then avoid this hotel at all costs. I still had a great time in Tenerife and we made the best of a bad situation but I would never return...
