Café Gernika — Restaurant in Arrecife

Might be good for coffee and croissants but a definite no for food. Stopped by on a whim, at lunch time. Dated decour, some stains on the wall, but OK looking otherwise. Ordered Russian salad and French fries and drinks. They forgot my water. The French fries - although freshly fried - were very soggy and greasy, didn't taste good. Russian salad was very obviously off, it had a tinge of that sourness when it's at the start of becoming inedible. I called the waitress over and told her it's not good anymore. No apologies or alternatives, she just took the plate away. When I came to pay she started telling me off and said the salad was made this morning and was perfectly OK and they've been in business for 50 years. Again, no apologies, just full forse attack. I said that it could be that one of the ingredients was off, but I'm not risking a food poisoning, nor should they. I again was told off. All other customers there had coffee and pastry, guess I should have walked further to where people ate...

My table still had bread crumbs, I guess... the very rude waitress, despite having ordered and asked using the magic words: thank you and please, didn't say a word... the croquettes were sold as homemade, but they were clearly industrial... and the hamburger, asked to have it after the croquettes, was served after 5 minutes, when I hadn't finished the first croquette yet... I pointed out to the waitress that I had asked to wait for the hamburger, but without saying a word she turned and left... also when I asked for the wifi password she slammed the paper on the table, appearing very annoyed... once the croquettes were finished, the hamburger was cold and the French fries were soaked in oil, therefore badly cooked.... so I immediately asked for the bill without wanting to pay for the hamburger and the waitress started yelling in my face... This place doesn't even deserve one star, but you can't...

Reasonable food, slow service, waitress pretty unhelpful and seemed mardy when we wanted to order some food, rolling her eyes then stomping off to get her note pad. Bit odd. Don't think they want...
