Does Indian cuisine sound exotic to you❓ Definitely not for me. I remember the first time I had Japanese food 🇯🇵, the first time I had Indonesian food 🇮🇩... not the first time I had Indian food 🇮🇳. I think I have eaten Indian food all my life. In fact, biryani is one of my comfort foods. 🥰 Yet, apparently that's not the case for everyone. One of our friends is visiting us from abroad and yesterday I offered to have lunch out at an Indian restaurant on my bucket list. And he answered that... he had never had Indian food... 😳 So we went to Annapurna, in Gràcia, BCN. At Annapurna, no biryani cause it's more a Nepali restaurant 🇳🇵 than an Indian restaurant. 🤷 Since my friend never had that type of cuisine and he doesn't like spicy food, I picked (to share): momo 🥟, sadeko aloo 🥔, dal and lamb rogan josh 🐑 + naans 🍞 and pilau rice 🍚. Good news: he loved it! And I did too cause everything was perfectly cooked. 👍 Everything but the naans, which I found too dry and too buttery 🧈 because (I think) the butter was put on them when they were already cold. 😔 The service also was very good and well paced. 🫶 The place itself was nice but I was facing the window so I basically couldn't see my friend at the other side of the table. 😔 They should work on the light to avoid these kinds of issues. Then comes the big issue: the price. Indian food in Europe 🇪🇺 usually is cheap. Not there: we paid €25 each with no dessert, no drinks and not huge quantities (well, we paid less cause I got a discount through TheFork, but still).... and a plain naan was already €3.5. That is far from cheap and definitely not what I expect from an Indian restaurant (even though the quality was above average).

Read moreWe came here for our son’s birthday. We all love Indian food and Annapurna renewed our faith that great Indian/Nepale food can be found in Barcelona! The pappadams were made properly— thin as paper, crunchy and full of flavor and the accompanying mango, mint and spicy sauces for dipping so yummy! My butter chicken melted in the mouth with a superb sauce. My husband had the special Tikka chicken and again- succulent chicken and excellent sauce. Our daughter in law had the lamb korma with melt in the mouth lamb in a subtle sauce. Finally, our son had the lamb Rogan Josh- a great lamb curry. The garlic naan was a slice of heaven with glistening bits if garlic while the basmati rice was perfectly cooked. We finished with mango pudding and julabi. Both yummy and not too sweet. The perfect end to this terrific meal. The young woman who served us was very professional and helpful as well as very friendly. And she knew how to properly serve wine. The decor is charming and tasteful. All in all a great meal in a lively environment. We’ll be back soon to try...

The old guy who took the order asked if we want samosa because it’ll take time for the food to arrive.
Free papad and sauces were served.
Small portion of chicken and paneer butter masala. We wanted king prawn but changed it to paneer butter masala.
Gulab jamun was hard.
When we were paying, we saw that there’s no paneer masala on the receipt, instead it was king prawn (which is more expensive) so we told the old guy who were all smiles. Then the other lady staff came with the right bill.
But this only didn’t happen to our table. Wrong bill was being sent to other tables from both our sides. I guess you could say they were running a little side business that rhymes...
