Unspoken, this is one of (if not the BEST) Thai restaurants in Barcelona. Each dish was notably prepared with passion and balanced with the best spices. We discovered this hidden secret, tucked away on a tiny street in the Les Corts neighborhood. I’ve been a Barcelona resident for over 12 Years and tried many Thai spots, some which have come and gone but my Thai cuisine experience was forever changed when I recently discovered this amazing spot. In searching google for an Asian/Thai restaurant that was likely to be open on a Monday night when returning home late from shopping. After plugging the address into the GPS, we found street parking and made our way to the doors of Bangkok Cafe. A small cozy restaurant with a handful of tables, apparently offered in two reservation seatings during the evenings. We did not have a reservation but were lucky to be sat in-between the seating times. The restaurant was busy and the staff very friendly and accommodating. I make it a point to order ¨staples¨ on my first visit to a Thai restaurant. Chicken Satay, Pad Thai and a Spicy Soup. Each one of these dishes were absolutely amazing. Once again, the staff was very gracious, all working together like a well oiled machine. We left feeling extremely satisfied and looking forward to a future visit. The only negative comment I can share about the experience is the fact of the restaurants size. The kitchen occupies about 1/3 of the space, therefore clothing will absorb much odor from the creativity for those delicious plates. A very small inconvenience for AMAZING...
Read moreThis is a restaurant I've really enjoyed and eaten at about 25 times since it's in my neighborhood. I've taken a lot of people there and had great meals. It's hard to find authentic ethnic food in Barcelona, especially if it's supposed to be spicy. They definitely bring the fire and authenticity with friendly service. However, after my last two experiences, I think I'm done. About 10 days ago, as we were approaching the front door, a fairly large rat scurried into the bushes right near the entrance, brushing my daughter's foot on the way past. She, who loves the place, was so grossed out, she nearly couldn't eat. But she managed. Then, yesterday, I took a friend who was stopping through town, and as we were waiting for our food, a cockroach scurried up the wall. I've lived in the African bush, so it didn't really bother me, but he, being kind of a sensitive dude, nearly puked. When he told the server, the older woman, that I had killed a cockroach that was crawling up the wall, she laughed and looked at me saying, "You killed my friend again!" and walked off. Maybe it's normal in Thailand, so if you're ok with that, go for it. However, if you expect higher standards of hygiene and you're squeamish about a place being cockroach infested, you probably want to steer clear of...
Read moreI would give you 0 stars if I could, service was absolutely terrible. I Came here With my family while waiting for our air bnb, we ordered food to go. I order the pad Thai which originally comes with shrimp but I’m a vegetarian soo asked for tofu and they said they couldn’t do it, then I asked for chili oil on the side which they said they can’t do ( I can pay) lastly, I asked for no sprouts. They said ok. After waiting for 30 minutes they hand us the food and tell us they couldn’t do the pad Thai dish without bean sprouts soo they never made it for me! On top of it I’m pregnant and to hear such an absurd comment was literally the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, bean sprout are practically garnish for god sake. I am a chef with 10+ Years of experience. The portions were on the small and the food was pricey and not a single dish was...
