Barcelona is home to a classic Italian restaurant in a modern setting every day of the week. Cecconi’s has several locations worldwide, and their renown Italian cuisine is delighting guests. The chef hand selects quality ingredients to make pasta from scratch, along with fresh caught seafood using traditional recipes from Northern Italy.

My two friends and I met in the Gothic Quarter, and opted for lunch at Cecconi’s. The restaurant design is beautiful, with traditional décor mixed with modern elements like elegant light fixtures and tiles along the floor. The service is impeccable, and every course was delivered hot and quick.

All the starters we choose looked delicious, and the black truffle, zucchini flowers, goat cheese pizzetta was probably my favorite. We also ordered baked gnocchi Romana with gorgonzola cheese which had a hearty texture and a rich flavor, and the burrata, tomato, avocado, and pistachio salad was refreshing and delightful.

Our main courses were promptly delivered when we finished our starters, and the orecchiette zucchini and ricotta salata I had was unique and flavorful. One of my friends raved about her chicken paillard, with zucchini, mint, and basil, while the other said his king prawns, tomato, onions and capers was delicious.

For dessert, we ordered three different desserts, which we each shared. The profiteroles, pistachio gelato, and chocolate sauce were an excellent combination of sweet and rich. I thought the mint sorbet with strawberries and balsamic was sweet and tart, perfectly balanced. Though my favorite was the Cantucci, Amaretti, chocolate truffles, which were rich, velvety and delicious.

I AM APPALLED AND DISGUSTED. I am a Chef who was excited to come and review Cecconis and report back to the company I work for - And I make these reviews as I am experiencing so I catch everything. Unfortunately this whole experience was HORRENDOUS. The staff at the front stopped talking to me mid conversation and attended to the man behind, he must have looked richer than me. Then inside a nice server (the only good part) took my order and started pouring me a wine, until his colleague came and proceeded to shame me that I only speak a little bit of Spanish then cancelled my order and told me I had to leave immediately because I was working on my laptop on the bar, and apparently this distracts other guests. I looked around and the other guests aren't even at eye level to the bar where I was sitting so there is no way I could have distracted them and this is absolute rubbish because I have been to some of the most prestigious restaurants in big cities to review them and I have NEVER felt so degraded. I am also a polite well mannered and dressed person and would never expect this treatment even if I wasnt. There are so many beautiful local italian restaurants in Barcelona and I wish I didn't choose one as stuck up as Cecconis to review. Shame on you Cecconis. I will only be returning to the italian restaurants I know that have amazing service, food and people and I will let all of my friends in our industry know about my experience, I hope word spreads fast.
