“A Horrible Night at Jay’s Japanese/Gatsby: Rude Staff and Racist Remarks!”
Our night at Jay’s Japanese/Gatsby started with excitement but quickly turned into a total nightmare. We had a table booked for 9 pm and were told we had it for two hours. But, right in the middle of our dinner, a lady named Georgina, claiming to be a supervisor, came over and said our time was up. She even took away our drinks with a nasty smile. I told her this was really rude, especially since we had ordered a lot of food and drinks. She brought our drinks back, saying sorry, but it didn’t feel genuine at all.
Things went from bad to worse when her manager Oliver showed up. Instead of making things right, he started questioning us about where we were from. When we said we were from the US, he told us we were in Spain now and needed to respect how things work here. It felt really insulting and racist.
Jay’s Japanese/Gatsby was a terrible experience with extremely rude staff who didn’t hesitate to throw racist remarks. There are so many better places to eat in Barcelona. Avoid Jay’s Japanese/Gatsby unless you want your night ruined by rude and...

The restaurant is using deceiving tactics to scam its customers. They only offer a 50% discount on the time slot between 20 to 20.30. If you book later than that, the app will tell you there is a 50% discount and offer you a list of times to pick, but the discount is actually not included.
The restaurant manager will not reveal this, as I clearly stated that I had made a reservation with the 50% discount upon my arrival and he said nothing and showed us our table, and then when the time comes to pay, they will charge you the full amount, without willing to help you in any way. Additionally, I also asked the waiter if there were any dishes not included in the discount and he told us 2 were not, not saying anything about our booking not having a discount, which he should have known as it was in a slot that according to them didn't have it.
Lastly, honestly the food is not good at all, we ordered flamed niguiris and they arrived cold at our table. Even before finishing the meal I had already shared with my partner the restaurant was totally not worth it despite...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. From the moment we walked in, it was clear we’d made a huge mistake. The hostess acted like we were interrupting her day, and it only went downhill from there.
Our waitress was aggressively rude — not just inattentive, but full-on hostile. She rolled her eyes when we asked questions, slammed our drinks on the table, and acted like serving us was the biggest inconvenience imaginable. No smile, no decency, just pure attitude. Honestly, I’ve had warmer service at the DMV.
As for the food? Disgusting. Everything was either undercooked, over-salted, or just tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp since the Bush administration. We sent one dish back and it returned colder than before, like they microwaved it halfway and gave up. Even the “safe” options tasted like regret.
The entire place felt like a punishment. The vibe was off, the staff seemed miserable, and by the end of it, so were we.
Do yourself a favor and don’t go here. There are gas station sandwiches with more flavor and soul than anything this...
