La Condesa Barcelona stands as a beacon of authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Barcelona. Being from Mexico City myself, I can attest to the genuine flavors and traditional dishes that transport you straight back to the vibrant streets of Mexico. The ambiance of the restaurant is lively and welcoming, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable culinary journey. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Each dish is a masterpiece of taste and presentation, with the suadero tacos and sopes being particular standouts. They are mouthwateringly delicious and evoke a true sense of Mexican street food. The banderilla dessert and the tamarindo water are reminiscent of cherished family recipes, with the latter tasting just like my grandmother used to make. What sets La Condesa apart is the personal touch. The chef personally came to our table, offering a taste of an extraordinary, spicy sauce not listed on the menu. It's these unexpected delights that elevate the dining experience. Additionally, discovering that the manager is from Mexico City and recognizing the authentic flavors in the dishes made the meal even more special and personal. The cocktails deserve their own mention, each one a unique blend of flavors that complements the meal perfectly. La Condesa Barcelona is a rare find in Spain, offering an authentic Mexican experience that's hard to come by. Whether you're a local or a tourist, a visit to this restaurant is a must. The vibrant atmosphere, combined with the exquisite food and drinks, ensures an amazing experience. La Condesa is not just a meal; it's a culinary adventure that you won't...
Read moreThe food was good—tacos de cochinita were tasty, and the quesadillas were enjoyable. However, our experience was marred by the service, particularly around a drink order that left us feeling quite uncomfortable.
I ordered a Clandestino and specifically asked if it was sweet, as I typically avoid sweet drinks. I was told it was spicy. When the drink arrived, it tasted overwhelmingly of sweet pineapple concentrate, with no discernible rum or spice. It was one of the least enjoyable cocktails I've had recently. Despite trying to dilute it with water, the sweetness was overpowering, so I switched to a beer instead.
Initially, the bill did not include the cocktail, which seemed fair. However, as we were about to pay, an updated bill was presented with the cocktail added back in. I was told that the bar had made the drink correctly and that I simply didn't appreciate its intended sweetness. They repeatedly questioned if I had tried it before and seemed to insist that I was at fault for not enjoying the drink because I didn’t know it was supposed to be a sweet drink. This felt dismissive and almost like gaslighting.
In the end, they decided not to charge for the cocktail, but the back-and-forth made us feel awkward and upset. It left us feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously and that the responsibility for the unpleasant experience was placed on me.
While the food was good, the overall experience left us hesitant to return. For future visitors, perhaps sticking to the food and beer might be...
Read moreWe went for the vegan tacos, and they were terribly disappointing.
I'll start with the good things. My daughter ordered the potatoes tacos and they were surpringly good (wouldn't have guessed it from the name). They came with a nice lettuce, cheese, avocado mix.
The nopales salad was really nice, refreshing taste. However it was spicy hot and it didn't say so in the menu, plus it said it came with avocado but we didn't found any in our salad.
The texturized soy tacos felt like cardbox, and the flavor was not good. That happens a lot in restaurants trying to add vegan options, they go use any meat replacement products and they are just not good. Much better to use whole food products, a nopales taco would have been nice (though in all fairness there was a nopal fajita which we didn't try).
The jackfruit taco was much better but still not a great taste, it lacked refinement.
The service was not great either. The lady didn't have info on the menu items when asked, and that's ok but didn't even go and find out from the kitchen. They mixed up our order, and in general there was a lack of attention (had to wait for a while to get the check). I got by beer without a glass as well.
I guess what was truly disappointing was going to a restaurant with a 4.9 score on google maps and getting "that". Hope this comments help them improve...
