My fear is that anyone who has written negatively about this restaurant may fall into two categories: You do not have tastebuds You are absent minded and can’t see the prices prior on the menu prior to entering.
Either way the food at La Mundana is absolutely amazing. The effort level, creativity of combinations and execution is tremendous. Please do not come for amazing service or to expect your plates to be changed between courses. This is a bib gourmand for a reason. Please come to enjoy the chef.
The rustic bread and homemade butter are fantastic and full of flavor. The Patatas bravas are a modern take with a unique presentation. Crunchy on outside and fluffy within and savory sauces on top. The croquettes are a blend of three meats, into a liquid form to produce the most decadent croquette Spain has to offer The cauliflower is tasting and is a nice break from the ultra rich meat dishes. I suggest a dish like this, potentially an alternative. While very good, my least favorite. Octopus and Peaches - what a combination of Spanish staples. Served with rainbow chard in a beurre blanc sauce. This a must order. Calamari - excellent sauce and batter. Flavor impeccable. Tenderness of calamari could be slightly improved. Oxtail Bao - stewed perfectly in a red wine sauce that is reduced. Really rich and flavorful. The clear winner - the Iberian Pork Tonkotsu - unbelievable tender, melt in your mouth fatty pork. This dish was so amazing I ordered another in place of dessert. This was the best pork dish I have ever had outside of Tokyo.
If I lived in Barcelona I would return quite frequently as the menu changes. I wish I had more room to try the ribs or dessert. This comes highly recommended!!!

Read moreA great experience in a restaurant is much more than just good food! One also expects a decent treatment and service, especially since you’re not getting anything for free and you pay for what you eat and drink (our group of three spent 200 EUR there in just under 2 hours…). Two points to consider for manager Marc:
Christina’s passive aggressive attitude, likely because of her frustrations, has nothing to do in a restaurant. From the moment we entered, she was bothered by us and after trying to reason with her, she even told us to leave if we didn’t like her attitude (our mistake, we should have…). She was resisting to our requests, talked to us very rude and even refused to take a jacket from one of my friends (while doing so for the rest of us).
Manuel was our second server. He was very polite, although completely unreasonable. We’ve booked the table for 8pm for 2 hours and our second bottle of wine was not empty by then, therefore we asked to stay a bit longer to finish it. The rules are clear to me, if at 10pm starts a second sitting, one should be ready to leave, although at 10pm there were 5 empty tables available and no one waiting at the entrance to be sited. We tried to reason with him to finish the bottle (which costed 40 EUR) until the moment the next guests arrive, however Manuel offered us to take the bottle with us on the street (without glasses) and finish it.
I think Barcelona is full of amazing people and food – many great places to discover, but this one is definitely not worth experiencing, as mentioned not because of the food (which was delicious by the way), but because of the service, which ruins it completely for you. We will not go again and recommend you to stay...

I have been to several bib gourmand restaurants before.(ok who cares).thats why i wanted to try one in Barcelona.
This place is a joke..or michelin lost its standards and mind..
The food absolutely tasteless, ingredients are cheap and bad quality and this combined with no cooking skills at all. For example: the cauliflower dish. 3 miserable flower warmed up in the oven..and then covered with sauce...the vegg was dry, raw, gummy, blunt and tasteless also cold(not the right cooking method and they have beautiful josper oven...you get me..) The katsu sandwich; thumb thick rubbery, chewy pork meat which was cold placed in white toast bread with some cabbage. Horrific.
There was an other dish with the burrata covered with grilled peach..the peach was obviously tasteless and thick..the cheese had nothing to do with burrata...it was dry and hard..the garnish of that dish was super salty and acidic..unedible.
The egg surprise is too salty..too rich..and i almost choked on the bacon?..that would be the surprise part?
This place focusing on plating and decorating food rather than real/right cooking methods and good ingredients..its a shame. I really had high hopes..because i had fantastic dinners in random restaurants in barcelona..which wasnt michelin recommended...
Something really really wrong with this place..probably the chefs who achieved the bib gourmand left the restaurant...
And also nobody react to...
