Sagun Restaurant — Restaurant in Barcelona

Sagun Restaurant. Excellent place for Indian vegetarian food. Delicious Indian food. We were visiting Barcelona and went there twice. It is conveniently located close to the Barcelona Sants station. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Barcelona. Their Veg Pakora and Veg Biryani is definitely worth trying. However, my favorite part was the extremely welcoming and kind people working there. Their hospitality and service is also very good. They really check on you, ask if everything is according to your liking. Good and clean restrooms, The lady (server) named Sita was super helpful. Sita is the most amazing lady and is always smiling and seems so genuine in her efforts to provide a fantastic service and a good experience for their customers. So was the chef / owner guy too. They both were so friendly and genuinely cared for diners taste requirements and comfort. It felt like I was eating at a family members place rather than in an unknown restaurant. That is how good their hospitality and food was. Will never forget how they made me feel so welcome and served me good food. Will always remember these two wonderful people. He ido, 15/04/25 hoy a las 15:00 ya que tenía que bajar a BCN (no soy de aquí) por unos temas. Tenía ganas de comer en un indio, he visto las reviews y me he decidido por este: review corta: se merece la puntuación actual? (4,9 esterllas) sin duda. Merece la pena ir? Sí, y si vas seguro que repetirás muchas vecees

Dicho esto, vamos con la review larga

Local: no soy mucho de valorar esto. Es un local pequeñito, acogedor, muy limpio. Muy correcto en general Servicio/camareros: de 10. Super atentos, simpáticos, agradables, educados...uno de los mejores servicios que he tenido en mi vida

Comida: 10 pero ahora la desgloso ya que hay aspectos a comentar He pedido el menú especial. De aquí he cogido samosa, pollo kadai y postre.

Samosa: para mí realmente lo único mejorable. A nivel de especias, me ha gustado mucho. Creo qeu tiene la cantidad justa, pica un poquito y la especia no sabe a crudo. No obstante, pese a qeu el nivel de especiado para mí es un 9 alto, creo que la samosa tenía demasiada masa y al final quedaba un poco desequilibrado y le quitaba parte de su sabor porque era como comer mucha masa (para mí gusto) Debo decir que viene acompañado de una salsa muy rica pero un pelín demasiado dulce y si ponéis mucha salsa, mata el sabor de la samosa. Para mí sería un 7 la samosa.

Ahora el plato fuerte...el pollo kadai. De forma resumida, del 1 al 10 le doy como un 15. ESPECTACULAR. Uno de los dos mejores currys (aunque creo que técnicamente no es un curry) que he probado en mi vida. EL pollo sabroso y super tierno, el pimiento y la cebolla espectacular y la salsa..ufff, no recuerdo haber "rebañado" tanto una salsa en mi vida. Me hubiese comido 2 boles de ese curry...o toda una olla, si me hubieran dejado :P en el menú especial venía acompañado de arroz blanco basmati (cantidad muy correcta, incluso un tanto generosa.) y de naam. Aquí también me quiero parar, para mí, el mejor naam que he probado. Sabroso, crujientito, calentito, chicloso (pero en el buen sentido) y, muy importante para mí, no era nada grasiento (igual que el curry). Podría estar horas hablando de este plato y sería incapaz de comunicar lo muchísimo que me ha gustado. Es un plato que recordaré mucho, mucho tiempo y me muero de ganas de volver a BCN para comerme otro bol.

de postre he pedido unas bolas de leche (que vienen en un bol con un almíbar). La textura de las bolas es peculiar y el almibar muy correcto. Yo no soy fan de los postres excesivamente dulces y este, a pesar del almíbar, no era excesivamente dulce. Me ha gustado y lo recomiendo pero la próxima vez seguramente pediré otro postre para conocer más aspectos de esta cocina

Finalmente, reiterar el excelente trato de los camareros (sois geniales!) y el curry. Ufff, brutal. Ojalá lo pudiera estar comiendo ahora mismo (con ese naam tan fantástico)! (mi más sincera enhorabuena a cocina. Sois...

This is an excellent restaurant. Visited on 24/10 after trying to decide which Indian restaurant to visit in Barcelona and the right choice was definitely made. I am assuming (possiblity incorrectly) that it is a husband and wife team, with the gent in the kitchen and the lady doing front of house. The service was warm and friendly and felt very genuine. One of us had a chicken dish and one a lamb dish and both were excellent. I also like the fact the the restaurant is fairly basic inside, rather than being like a lot of the UK restaurants where glitz and glamour are more important than the food, with this restaurant it is about the food and not the glitz and glamour. Having said that, the restaurant was very clean. Really pleased we went here and thanks for the warm welcome, excellent food and genuinely good service. I don't know when I will be in Barcelona again, but I hope the restaurant is a success and I get to visit...
