La Neura — Restaurant in Barcelona

Unfortunately I am here to change my 5 Star review to a 1 star. La Nuera was my favourite restaurant in Barcelona, I have been there numerous times, even recommending it to anyones who asks where the best restaurant is.

I want to say before I leave this review that I studied Culinary Arts for 4 years so I understand that things happen that you can’t control.

Everything started well, we ordered our food with no problem. We ordered Pan con Tomate, anchovies and Olives. I then ordered the vegan Milanese and my boyfriend the Steak.

Starters were fine, well we didn’t recieve our pan tomate. So 10 second before they dropped my boyfriends steak they told me that they didn’t have the vegan Milanese, I said no Problem, so he suggested the vegan burger. At this point I asked if this was the same and came with salad and chips and the waiter said it did and is was the same.

After Waiting an additional 20 moments for this burger, which didn’t matter until the SADDEST BURGER CAME . A burger on a round white plate with nothing else! I asked where where the chips were, after another 15 minutes more. I got them. No apologies, minimal effort and a serious attitude for asking for what I was promised. Then another effort to ask for ketchup / or another drink. There was 1 more table seated inside.

I was honestly trying to be positive, as I saved for this meal for a few weeks. But they last straw was when we got the bill, charged for pan con tomate that we never received, €5 for chips that were supposed to be included in a burger. When I said this to the waiter he got really angry, and didn’t even apologise. Honestly the restaurant was empty at this Point because we went early to eat.

I haven’t had a such bad meal in Barcelona in 2 years and especially not here. I understand it’s super hot and working service in august is hell!!!! But after saving for this meal and recommending it to over 20 people, I decided that a review was necessary . Do not go here !!! Not waste you money , you will be treated terribly…. I’m not sure if the management has changed. But you can read my previous review below to see the drastic change.

This was by far our best restaurant and Tapas experience in all of Spain. The first night we chanced upon it and sat at the bar and had tapas and some drinks. After noticing the incredible attention and detail being paid by the owner/chef (from Argentina) to the food going out to the tables (sit down, not tapas) I knew we had to make reservations. They were full the next night but had an opening the following day. After sharing the best classic Burrata salad I’ve ever had, we also shared some perfectly cooked calamari. To make a long story short we told our waiter (from Columbia, spoke pretty good English) that it was the chefs choice and oh my, it was incredible. Three different presentations of steaks, all different, and all delectable. I believe one was a skirt steak, another was a hanger steak, and the third was presented with Pedrón peppers and mashed potatoes. Incredible. The chef/owner, I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name, greets and checks on each and every table. That’s always a good sign! Fui a cenar a La Neura con mi pareja y con mi madre el sábado sobre las 20 h. Todavía a esa hora no había mucha gente. Poco después de sentarnos la camarera nos vino a preguntar lo que queríamos tomar. Como todavía no habíamos tenido tiempo de mirar la carta, pedimos una copa de vino blanco y dos medianas, le pedimos que nos dejara la carta de vinos para volver a mirarla más adelante pero no nos la dejó.

Para cenar, pedimos una ensaladilla rusa, una de bravas, los champiñones salteados, los huevos estrellados con jamón, la morcilla y el chorizo, y dos empanadas (una de carne picante y otra de berenjena y provolone). La camarera nos preguntó si queríamos pan con tomate, le pedimos pan para dos. Le preguntamos si habíamos pedido demasiadas cosas pero nos dijo que no porque los platos eran pequeños. Después, la camarera le quitó el platillo a mí pareja lo cual nos pareció algo raro ya que solo habíamos pedido comida para compartir.

Nos empezó a traer la comida, todo iba bien hasta que llegaron las empanadas; vino con un plato con tres empanadas (solo le habíamos pedido dos), después una de las empanadas se le cayó al suelo y en vez de traernos una nueva, nos dijo que no pasaba nada y que estaba bien. Le explicamos que solo le habíamos pedido dos empanadas y que ¡¡no nos podía servir comida del suelo!! La camarera empezó a insistir que le habíamos pedido tres empanadas (según ella, le habíamos pedido una de carne normal, una de carne picante y una de berenjena) y que era así porque ella lo había apuntado así (bueno, no era cierto pero no dejaba de insistir y no quería discutir con ella porque estaba allí mi madre). Después, nos dijo que nos podía cobrar solo la mitad por la empanada que se había caído al suelo, le dijimos que si nos la iba a cobrar, lo mínimo que tenía que hacer era traernos una nueva así que se la llevó otra vez a la cocina. Después de un rato nos trajo una empanada. Al final nos cobró las tres empanadas sin ningún tipo de descuento ni disculpas.

Unos amigos nos habían hablado muy bien del restaurante. Las tapas eran grandes y la comida estaba buena. El restaurante es bonito y nos queda cerca de casa. Sin embargo, por la falta de profesionalidad de la camarera, no creo que vuelva. Dejamos unos euros de propina porque la comida nos había gustado y porque la otra camarera nos había...
