Morrysom was probably one of the best meals I had while in Barcelona. My boyfriend and I came in for some tapas at around 11 PM on a Friday night. There were so many things that we wanted to order. Our waiter was super nice - he heard all the things we wanted to order and stopped us from over-ordering, and I'm glad he did because the amount of food that we did end up getting was enough.
We ordered the "small" meat plate. I say "small" because it definitely would have been enough for four people. It had four different types of meats, including morcilla and jamon, as well as some cheese. We ordered a side of the tomato bread and it was a great accompaniment to the meat plate, as it helped cut the saltiness. Then we had a bomba, which is a stuffed mashed potato ball - in this case with cheese, and then topped with some kind of tomato-ey sauce. One of these is huge, so one to share is perfect for two people. It tastes slightly different than a croquette, and I really liked it. Finally, we had some gambas de ajillo (garlic shrimp), which was the star of the show. The shrimp tasted super fresh and all that garlic oil just brought out its flavor. We loved it so much that we started dipping the tomato bread in it. On top of all of this, we had a glass of wine each and our total bill came out to just €23! Definitely recommend if you're staying in the...
Read moreUnfortunately the service was very uncomfortable.
We only received half of the food we ordered, one item was completely wrong, then when we received the bill, it was just prices written on a scrap piece of paper, so we don't know what we were being charged for. But there were much more items on the bill, than we received. My Spanish is poor but I know a small amount. I tried to explain we didn't know what we were being charged for, and we have things on the bill we didn't have.
The waiter was having none of it, though admitting we did not receive some items we asked for, and motioned for us to just give us the money. We just paid the €40 and left. I was too overwhelmed and it was embarrassing, in front of other customers.
We heard amazing reviews about this place and love trying new food. We have never ever had an issue like this before and were made to feel like we were trying to get away without paying, or we were played with because we are tourists.
Also, they said they only accept cash. But others were paying with card. Interestingly, there is a cash point (ATM) over the road, that scammed us by taking out over €1200. Avoid this machine and...
Read moreI had the most charming evening in Barcelona having tapas at this friendly, unpretentious place! Everyone working there was genuinely welcoming, warm and attentive towards everyone, no matter if you are not local and don’t speak Spanish.
Most patrons do seem to be either local or repeat customers or both, and also friendly. The whole place just oozed with a sense of “you belong here!” - so rare and awesome to find a place like that when traveling!
I was just a few minutes too late to snag a table outside, but it turned out to be my best luck! Because sitting at the bar, I had great fun watching the staff performing a choreographed, well practiced “dance” of serving copious amounts of food and drinks quite quickly yet calmly. The boss is like the conductor of an orchestra, and the heart and soul of this performance. It’s really entertaining, even though I don’t know Spanish.
So just go, sit at the bar, and order some delicious tapas, a few bland Moritz beer that’s unfortunately ubiquitous in Barcelona, or like me have a few excellent vino blanco, sit back and enjoy your evening- you’ll be treated very well and hugely...
