I recently dined at a paella restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. While the establishment boasted a well-designed interior and attentive staff, the quality of the paella fell short of expectations.
The first noticeable flaw was the absence of the characteristic crust that defines a truly authentic paella. The lack of that delightful, slightly crispy layer was disappointing and made the dish feel incomplete. It's an essential element that adds texture and flavor, and its absence was a letdown.
Furthermore, I ordered the seafood paella hoping for a delicious medley of flavors from the sea. However, I was disappointed to find that the crustaceans used in the dish were not fresh. The quality of the seafood greatly influences the overall taste, and unfortunately, it was evident that these ingredients did not meet the standard expected for a dish of this nature.
Additionally, I decided to try the meat paella, hoping for a burst of bold flavors. Regrettably, the dish lacked the desired level of spiciness. The seasoning fell short, and the flavors were underwhelming. It failed to capture the essence of a well-seasoned, savory meat paella that one would expect.
Despite the disappointing culinary experience, I must acknowledge the positive aspects of the restaurant. The interior design was pleasant, creating an inviting and comfortable ambiance. The attention provided by the staff was commendable, as they were attentive and accommodating throughout the meal.
In conclusion, while the ambiance and service at this paella restaurant were noteworthy, the quality of the paella itself left much to be desired. The absence of the traditional crust in the dish, the lack of freshness in the seafood, and the underwhelming seasoning of the meat paella were significant disappointments. I hope that the restaurant takes these points into consideration to improve the quality and authenticity of their paella...
Read moreSadly, we were very disappointed with our visit and meal. Initially the welcome was friendly, the decor and atmosphere was nice and we felt well accommodated. We chose to eat here following a recommendation from our hotel. Drinks were swiftly bought and we ordered the prawn and monkfish paella. Our dish for 2 arrived and we were instantly disappointed at the portion size for the money. Our prawns were very small and sadly rather tasteless and our monkfish pieces were tiny (the largest was about the size of a 10p coin), on the bone and poorly trimmed. It looked very unappealing. Not being fluent in Spanish, and our waiter speaking only Spanish (understandably, we were in Barcelona afterall) we felt dissatisfied and left really rather hungry. We wish we'd eaten elsewhere and found, in our opinion, much better paella elsewhere during our visit to the city.
Edit following owners reply: I asked your waiter in Spanish if he spoke English and he replied that he didn't... I'm not fluent but I lived in Spain for many years so am fully conversational and understood him well enough. Never mind, I tried to leave a polite and honest review reflecting my feelings and I fully understand what a paella is as I've eaten it in many, many restaurants before. It's a shame that you feel the need to reply so aggresively rather than take on board polite critisism, but perhaps this reflects your restaurant. Best of luck for the future and I hope your other customers enjoy their experience more...
Read moreWe deeply regret coming to this awful place. We arrived on October 29, 2025, at 7:30 PM with a reservation. The female waiter downstairs (the only woman working there) treated us like enemies. Even though we had our own charger, she said there was no place in the entire restaurant to plug it in. I found a power strip with three empty sockets, but she rudely told me I couldn’t use it. Then I went upstairs and another gentleman kindly let me charge it.
We asked for hot sauce, and she arrogantly said there wasn’t any left, without even looking at us. She slammed the plates on the table, and despite all this rude treatment, we still paid 80 euros! We’ve been traveling in Europe for 13 days, and this was the first time we’ve ever experienced such stupid and disrespectful behavior. All we wanted was a decent dinner on our last night in Barcelona, and now I’m literally shaking with anger.
While writing this message, I spoke to a gentleman who seemed to be the manager, explained the situation, and he said he would talk to the owner and take care of it immediately. Within five minutes, they came to our table to apologize and even said they would waive half of the bill if necessary. They were truly very attentive, and we sincerely thank them — but we paid the full bill and left.
Unless the rude lady downstairs receives the necessary warning or disciplinary action, this restaurant will continue to cause problems, just like it did tonight. What a shame — it ruined...
