Blah food, but come for the atmosphere, speed, decor, and view. I wish Madrid had a cafeteria like this 😭
There are a dozen food options, but not too many so making a choice is difficult. Mainly classic Spanish fare with some 'healthy' lighter items like salad bar. Food is already prepared, so you see exactly what you get and pay before you sit, so it's great if you're anxious about language barrier.
The cafeteria is clean because it's well staffed, it's new and nicely decorated, with a great view of the main street. It was busy during dinner, so seating for a group might be difficult. Only food line was for the dessert and coffee station.
Food - the seafood paella isn't pescetarian! 😭 Lukewarm, but the staff made sure every portion had a good mix of seafood, including the big prawn. Wish they trimmed it better because I picked out many small pieces of shrimp antennas, like the top left...

Overall, La Plaça Gourmet Cafeteria is a great spot to grab a coffee and take in the view of Plaça de Catalunya. The coffee and cakes are good, but be aware that it can get crowded, which may impact...
Read moreI have never been treated like this in my life as I have been treated in La Placa. I had a Cabreiroa bottle of water with me when I walked in the place. I had 2 paellas and went to the register area to pay. After the payment, the guy at tge register stopped my wife by holding her by her arm and started asking me if I paid for the water. Problem was that they were selling the same branded water. I kept telling him that I have brought it with me and he kept asking me if I paid for it like I am stealing a bottle of water from them. Think how tasty the food was after that.. well, what I can say; shame on you Corte Inglese, La Placa,...
