La Riera — Restaurant in Barcelona

I'm not a vegetarian, but this restaurant is fantastic! Great quality food and three courses plus desert for a little over ten euros. Pricewise it's unbeatable.

The restaurant is also environmentally conscious. Place mats and napkins made from recycled paper, bottles of filtered tap water filled on site and most of the ingredients for the food are locally sourced.

In addition to all this, the staff are some of the friendliest and most helpful I've encountered in a restaurant. I started having the suspicion that La Riera is a cooperative with all the employees having a vested interest in seeing their business do well. Imagine the kind of service you'd get from a owner of a small restaurant, dedicated to impressing you and you'll start to get the idea of how this place treats its customers.

This place is very popular and must be doing something very right. It's only open from 1pm to 4pm and yet it's still in business! This is definately a restaurant you should visit when in the area, but just make sure you get there early, or you may find...

Fuimos a La Riera porque buscábamos un restaurante vegetariano con opciones veganas y nos llamó muchísimo la atención que se definiera como cocina tradicional catalana. ¡Y vaya si acertamos!

Asombroso se queda corto. El menú del mediodía cuesta unos 13 € e incluye primer plato, segundo, tercero, bebida y postre. Los platos no son enormes, pero son más que suficientes: nosotros solo pudimos comer el primero y el segundo y pedimos el tercero para llevar… porque queríamos dejar hueco para el postre. Y menos mal, porque estaba espectacular.

La bebida incluida es agua (diría que osmotizada, o al menos la sirven en botellas de cristal que parece que rellenan ellos mismos, un detalle que me encantó). Si prefieres un refresco, lo pagas aparte, pero honestamente el agua ya es de muy buena calidad.

El local es sencillo y sin pretensiones, algo que personalmente valoro muchísimo. Se nota que el foco está en la comida y el trato, no en aparentar. El ambiente es muy tranquilo, ideal para disfrutar de la comida sin prisas ni distracciones innecesarias.

Un detalle que me encantó: los camareros saludaban a los clientes por su nombre cuando entraban. Eso me dio mucha confianza y la sensación de que es un lugar muy frecuentado por la gente del barrio, lo que siempre es buena señal.

Yo me he quedado completamente enamorada de este sitio. Aunque vivo lejos, volveré sin duda. Sitios así, con comida deliciosa, trato cercano y un ambiente auténtico, merecen ser descubiertos y revisitados...
