This place is great! My partner is Chinese and I am British. We came here on 1st September as Chinese local reviews said how good it was, authentic and fresh. We arrived at 7pm opening time and were greeted by the manager who was so friendly and kind! A really lovely woman :). She chatted with my partner for a while (as I only speak English) and made us feel very welcome. I wanted to try a lot of dishes, but she said we had too many and she doesn’t like to see food wasted as she came from a very poor background, so we should order then order more later if we needed to. She asked us to move to a larger table because everything wasn’t going to fit on a table for 2! She was right because we ended up ordering the spicy beef, pak choi, spicy tofu, rice and 2 types of bao. We finished everything but were very full. Everything tasted fresh and clean. Really delicious.
The restaurant itself is very clean and comfortable. Whilst we were there, it got busy with Chinese locals and non-Chinese diners, so please don’t be put off if you aren’t fluent in Mandarin or Spanish. The manager said she didn’t speak English but later in the evening an employee was coming that could. She was a younger girl who had heard of Manchester, UK and was also very friendly and kind.
It took us about 30 minutes walking around where we were in the centre of Barcelona to find it, but it was worth it and I would definitely go back again because of the friendly service, high standards of cleanliness and really, really tasty food. Thank you Little Foodie, we had...
Read moreWe dined here tonight. Saw this restaurant while walking in the day and decided to come for dinner. We ordered the steamed Prawn Dumplings, Fried noodles with vegetables and the Eggplant dish. We asked for Dumplings to come first and then the other 2 dishes. An older lady took our order and she acknowledged my request.
Quite quickly out comes the Noodle dish. We waited a bit and asked the young waitress about the Dumplings which were to have come first.... we were told that we receive dishes in whatever order the kitchen prepares them. We were forced to eat the noodles by themselves.
Then after a fair wait the Dumplings come out and after another longish wait the Eggplant dish comes out. We then had to order some steamed rice to go with the Eggplant.
In all honesty the food was very good and tasty. I was however bit disappointed with the serving size of our noodles.... seemed to be a very small serve. Looking at similar noodle dishes going to other tables their serves seemed to be much bigger. Also the steamed rice that we ordered was dry and hard.
I have taken 2 stars off for the fact that we could not enjoy our meal given we have to rely on kitchen's order of dispatch of food and serving size of noodles. I was hoping to come come again as the food was really tasty but not sure after this first experience.
The young staff serving us was very lovely....apparently her last...
Read moreA refreshing new place serving authentic Chinese food in the neighbourhood. It recently opened and I had to try.
Ordered takeaway last night and was blown away by how delicious the dishes were. The wonderful host explained that they hand make their own dishes, and you can really tell. We got Xiao Long Bao (小笼包), Sweet & Spicy Eggplant (鱼香茄子) and a cold dish - poached chicken with chilli aka Ko Shui Ji (口水鸡). Their homemade chilli is amazing.
Everything was great, and we were pleasantly surprised by the Xiao Long Bao. If you’ve been on the hunt in Barcelona, you’ll know that some other Chinese restaurants make the thick skin version. Little Foodie serves the delightful steamed, thin skin version with delicious soup inside.
Service is quick and friendly. Will be back soon and will share some actual photos when we next visit! (Takeout photos wouldn’t do the food justice so we skipped taking...
