Market Cuina Fresca — Restaurant in Barcelona

I wanted to try out this place but the waiter's lack of flexibility and consideration just made me stand up and leave. As I don't drink alcohol or Coke the only drink option within the day menu was water. I kindly asked the waiter if she could change it with a freshly squeezed juice. Her answer was "No". I was asked to pay 1.50 euro on top of the 13.50 euro cost of the daily menu that included a drink. I know I asked for a favour but I explained my situation that I have nothing to choose from. It was water or water. Seeing that plus the fact that the cost of the daily menu equals the top class restaurants' from the posh parts of the city centre, I decided to leave. Fresh Market strikes it when the magic works. Unusual combinations that pop to explode your taste buds. It's tricky at times and when the magic doesn't work you get better than average food but no magic when the combinations do no work. Today unfortunately there was barely magic and the oven braised pork with mushrooms was underwhelming. Melon soup was good and a the lemon pie was also good but I expected better. A great concept for lunch, from a Portuguese Chef. It is all about fresh ingredients, cooked to highlight their natural flavors. The room is nice, cozy and well decorated and the staff super nice it is very popular so a reservation might be recomended. I came here during the morning for coffee, and they have Portuguese coffee (Delta) and they make their own pasteis de nata!
