Behold, a culinary gem uncovered in the vibrant heart of Barcelona - Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant! After a relentless quest for authentic Mexican flavors, my disappointment finally came to an end as I wandered into this gastronomic oasis nestled in the bustling El Born neighborhood. Let me take you on a journey of sensory bliss that transcends borders and delights the palate. Picture this: a sun-kissed afternoon spent in the enchanting outdoor dining area of Oaxaca, where verdant foliage and ancient stone arches adorned with twinkling lights create an ambiance reminiscent of a bygone era. As we settled in with tantalizing cocktails and a tantalizing spread of tableside-made fresh guacamole accompanied by an array of fiery sauces, we were transported to a realm of colonial opulence. The guacamole, crafted from luscious, imported avocados from South America, was a symphony of flavors that danced on homemade crispy tortilla chips and crunchy pork rinds. Each bite was a revelation, heightened by the zesty lime juice variant that set taste buds abuzz. Our passion fruit mojitos served as the perfect cooling companion to the fiery appetizers, refreshing and invigorating. The culinary odyssey continued with a ravishing display of red ceviche crowned with mango cream, a tower of fresh fish enveloped in a tantalizing sauce of tomatoes, spices, and onions. This culinary masterpiece was a testament to Oaxaca's dedication to flavor and presentation, a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Our dining adventure reached its zenith with the unveiling of Michoacán-style Iberian carnitas, a succulent pork delicacy that allowed us to create our own tacos. The interplay of textures and flavors, from the crispy half-tortillas we could wedge into the warm and fresh soft tortillas, to the velvety guacamole and fiery hot sauce, was a symphony of taste that left us satiated yet craving for more. To conclude our epicurean journey, we indulged in a trio of homemade Mexican ice creams - vanilla, mango, and pineapple - each adorned with a sweet and tangy fruit syrup that elevated the creamy confections to new heights. The artistry and care put into every scoop was evident, a testament to Oaxaca's commitment to culinary excellence. Throughout our feast, the impeccable service at Oaxaca shone brightly, with attentive staff guiding us through a world of flavors and ensuring a dining experience that was nothing short of extraordinary. As we compile our list of holiday dining destinations for visiting family, Oaxaca stands as a shining star, a beacon of culinary mastery that is sure to impress even the most discerning palates. We thoroughly enjoyed this gastronomic voyage and discovered the unparalleled magic of Oaxaca, where every bite celebrates Mexico's rich culinary heritage.

Really friendly, attentive staff. Main dishes were eally good, and really expensive. The mole sauce with the chicken was superb. They have a different spin on some dishes, like elote, it was basically corn on the cob with spicy mayo. But have you ever tried ant eggs before?!?! Then order the lobster dish. I love fresh guacamole, and fresh it was, but a little sosa (tasteless). My guac knocks this out of the park. Margharitas were strong, better be at 10 turkeys a pop. The hand made tortilla chips we ordered with the guac came out really toasted (borderline burnt). The second round of chips faired a lot better. It seemed that some dishes were a bit lacking but just needed a few tweaks. Overall, if you dont mind spending 50 per head, its quite a nice restaurant. I dont mean to sound cheap, I guess what I am saying is that some of the items are overpriced. Margharitas could come down, dont charge for nachos if you order guacamole, I dont mind paying the value of something, if its worth every penny.

Superb food, excellent attention to detail. You will not be disappointed. Our group of 6 went here for a dinner last thursday. The place is stunning, very tastefully decorated with mexican adornos and funky lights. Menu is short and manageable with dish portions coming in reasonable sizes. I was particularly impressed that the waiter made the guacamole right at our table using the traditional mexican mortar and pestle made out of black rock. All the sauces and chiles were equally freshly made to order, which lifted the spice level on every dish according to the different sauce you added. The waiters were fantastic, they had clearly tasted every dish on their menu and knew their stuff. They helped us to order a good spread of dishes so everyone could try a little of everything. Desserts were mindblowing, I totally recommend the cheesecake. Total bill for 6 people was 300 EUR. A fair price I´d say for a really enjoyable experience. You will not regret it.

So disappointed! I have been to this place several times in the past and enjoyed it enough to return for a birthday lunch. Hadn't been in 9 months or so and it was so changed! The server was so haughty and rude I thought we must be on some kind of candid camera or something to see how clients react to over-the-top disregard and even disdain for clients' wishes. When we asked for margaritas on the rocks with no salt, she said ok, but that's not the proper way to drink them. They were pretty good, with real lime juice rather than syrup. Also expensive by the local standard. When my partner ordered a second round, they brought only his. I said I wanted one too and was told I should have asked for it at the same time (which we had!). There was no misunderstanding involved, as my partner is Spanish and I speak fluently, and we communicated only in Spanish. Then I asked if we could have 2 more corn chips to finish off the last few spoonfuls of guacamole (which is also pretty good). She said there were 7 chips in the order. When I repeated I only wanted 2 more, she said 'you'll have 7'. She brought the 7 and I said 'what a waste, which made her shrug her shoulders. When we asked for flour tortillas with our meat entrée, she said 'we don't have those'. You ran out? We always have them....No, we don't serve them.because we want to be gluten free....we don't care for those.... well, that's what you will get!!!.... when my partner said that was a shame because we were reoeat clients who would not return, she shrugged her shoulders again as if to say 'who cares?'. I could go on with more examples but I don't even want to spend any more time reliving it.i gave 2 stars for ambiance because the place is nice enough and the music and AC were at good levels, but the bad treatment spoiled the experience. The food is still pretty good as well, but there was only one entrée that didn't involve corn tortillas, so we didn't really enjoy it. I asked if they could give us rice instead and they don't have that either....she was so oblivious that she brought the check with a card asking for Google and trip advisor reviews! Well, she got a review. I think I have only gone out of my way once before to leave a bad review for a restaurant. I did it because the place is recommended on searches. Maybe if we hadn't been so badly treated, we would have just been disappointed and not said anything. Maybe another server would have been more pleasant.... I'll never know because ai won't go...

THIS PLACE GAVE 3/4 OF US FOOD POISONING - AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!! We dined here Jan 5 2023 and 3/4 of us got extreme food poisoning the night of our dinner starting around 3 AM. One person was completely fine. We had all noted while dining that the crab tostados tasted very fishy, however all four of us ate from them. The only food item we ordered that the one person who didn't get sick didn't eat was the beef entrecote tacos. While one of us didn't get sick, the rest of us woke up between 3-3.30 AM respectively and started throwing up violently until 8 AM. For 24 hours we also had a fever, as well as body aches and were falling in and out of sleep. Two of us were travelling on Jan 7th and were unsure if we could even make it to the airport. When I could finally think/talk about the food without running to the bathroom, I called the restaurant on the 8th to make a complaint. The lady just apologized, before mentioning she will inform the chef. No further communication/assurance/apologies was received from the restaurant. I also filled out the feedback form received from the restaurant, again no one reached out to us or anything to apologize or assure us that the matter was dealt with. While we had a great time dining and drinking at the restaurant (with two of us being big fans who had dined at your restaurant before) and had great impressions of the place, I am sorry to say that at this stage none of us would dine at/recommend this restaurant again. We paid a lot of money to be in a lot of pain for 24 hours, followed by discomfort for another 48 hours and counting. Very surprising and unacceptable from any establishment, let alone a Michelin with a great reputation and steep prices. All in all, we consider ourselves lucky that we are starting to recover, as we know that food contamination can cause seriously dangerous illnesses and potentially deaths in extreme cases. Due to the lack of appropriate response from the restaurant to the situation, I can only recommend people to avoid avoid avoid. The food was OK but not worth the money, and not worth the food...
