It was nice to stay in the building where Picasso first stayed when he came to Barcelona! Porxos Garden is in a superb location - 10 minutes from the Gothic Quarter and 10 minutes from the beach. We were delighted that our hotel was very close to some wonderful vegan restaurants like Velada and vegan ice-cream parlours like CAJÚ. The hotel was quiet despite the prime location. It felt secure as you needed to swipe your key card to get through the front door and then again to the area with the rooms on the first second floor. The rooms were very modern and stylish. Very clean and comfortable bed. The air con was brilliant as it wasn't too noisy but was very effective in a hot August week in Barcelona! The bathroom was brilliant with a powerful cascade shower. The room could possibly have been a bit bigger with more space around the bed to leave suitcases. However, we did book the standard room so I would imagine the more expensive room is more spacious. The shared lounge area with free tea, coffee and snacks, was lovely, with chic little tables and nice cushioned seating. The roof garden also looked lovely but it was just far too hot for us to use. A table with a sun umbrella up there would have been a nice touch as then we could have enjoyed the amazing views of the city and out to sea from a shaded seat. The breakfast was one of the biggest strengths of the hotel. It was copious and offered options for all dietary requirements. As vegans, we were able to choose from oat, almond, coconut rice and soya milk. We we given plantbased spread and peanut butter for bread and there was muesli. There were all kind of fruits and soya yoghurt. The breakfast room was nice and tranquil. The hotel staff were extremely kind and welcoming. They helped us with late check in (handy self service check in facility) and with early departure (they left us breakfast boxes as we were leaving too early for breakfast). They also suggested a good bike hire facility and we're ready to help with anything. We would definitely stay again and would recommend Porxos to small groups of friends, couples and families with teenage and older children. Thank you for a great stay...
Read moreVisiting for a couple of days. And chose this great little find An unobtrusive hidden gem of a hotel or perhaps guest house. Blown away by the interiors. A quaint ancient building refurbed to a very high standard. We went for a superior room which was more than adequate. Light airy with volume, beautifully high ceilings and original features. Lots of original pine. Doors stunning. A large French window over looking the busy road but so well insulated you couldn’t hear a thing. ||What made our stay so very special is the attention of Thai. This young lady is outstanding in every way. A very very warm smiling welcome. Nothing too much and so generous with her attention. ||People really do matter and whilst the building was simply wonderful including the amazing roof garden, what really made it wa the service we received. ||Breakfast included. Fabulous. Set us up for the day. ||Thank you for an...
Read moreI made a booking with this hotel in April 2022 for 3 nights. I paid over £300. Unfortunately due to a family emergency I was unable to visit and was told that I could keep the booking to aside and let the hotel know whenever I wanted to visit next and they would secure the booking for me on the dates I need. I was given a WhatsApp number to connect with them on. I tried to rebook with them in July 2022, October 2022, November 2022 and I have even messaged them today to see if they are receiving my messages. I have been without any replies on all their platforms. They have taken my money but have not allowed me to stay after promising that they understood my circumstances and would modify my booking when I was ready to come. Really disappointed in their service as I had booked them after much research and was excited to...
