Firstly, the service was horrible, never seen anything like it! Rudest waiter on the planet! Food was salty burnt and generally didn’t hold up to the standard of a Spanish tapas bar. An overall disappointment. My worst dinning experience ever. The atmosphere was loud and unappealing, above all, it was off putting towards the meal. 1 croqueta was 2€, this is a price usually given by a tapas restaurant in the beach; this restaurant has no business dealing with these high figures; it’s inappropriate and irrelevant; they must learn their place.
However I do feel it necessary to note that the food isn’t the main source for my disappointment. That title is bestowed on the service we received from the moment we asked to be seated till we were pressured to leave our table. From what I could see, the people at the other tables were also unable to enjoy their meals as a result of this abominable waiter and his attitude. This waiter also brought us a drink we didn’t even order and then tried to convince us that we did. Later on when checking the bill, he not only rushed me when reading it (he quite literally tried to snatch it out of my hands as I held on to it), but he also charged us for 2 portions of ‘Pan con Tomate’ (Bread with Tomato) and the he obviously tried to convince us that that was what we had ordered, which was obviously a lie.
The service at a restaurant has always been a primal factor to me as it involves the sanctity and the clean keeping of my food. If a man is capable of being so rude to one’s face for no reason, who’s to say he hasn’t ‘tampered’ with the cleanliness of the food. It’s a sad but very real truth.
Even if there’s a mere 1% chance of having the same man as your waiter, AVOID THIS PLACE...
Read moreThis deserves a mention for being the first Spanish food Ive tasted after a long 5 year hiatus from traveling. Covid and work made it impossible. Por Fin! Okay, so this cozy spot sits at a cross section with plenty of space so you dont feel cramed or close to the street. I went midat after deciding to grab a bite waitinf for my connection from Barcelona Santa to Estacjon Joaquin Sorolla in Valencia. It was an easy 15 min brisk walk with a overloaded packpack and a rolling suitcase. You could take a taxi or cabifi for a 5-10 euros maybe?
Arriving I was quickly greeted with a smile and seated promptly. The staff offered a menu of the day with enough options that made it irresistible. Fideua marisco, think mac n cheese with no cheese and cooked deliciously with a varity of tasty seafood flavors. Mussels, shrimp, small clams, some calamari or similar cuttle fish. A nice warm tint gives its a yellow hue. Its fkn delicious. Had a main course of steak a beer included topped off with home made flan foe around 20 bucks. Definitely will return and share with friends in...
Read moreWe finished a visit to MNAC later than planned and we were desperate to have food near our Airbnb, which is near Bar Galicia. Although we were reluctant to eat at this place because they ran out of a few dishes, I am very we did eat here at the end because the menú del día was really great! The salmorejo cordobés was delicious and that was only the start of a great lunch! We were served by a waiter originally from Córdoba and he was absolutely great. Muchísimas gracias. He was helpful and patient with my non-Spanish and Catalan speaking partner, unlike many other waiters in Barcelona… I enjoyed our lunch in Bar Galicia and might come back again for our final dinner in...
