Piano B is a newly opened Italian restaurant headed by Luca and Alberto, the hosts, and Romano, the chef. Located in the heart of Poble Sec near the Plaza del Sortidor, the place gives out a warm, romantic, at the same time, a family friendly setting with it’s nicely spaced dining area and a nice view of the kitchen while the chef is carefully and wholeheartedly prepares the feast.
Starters: We had the CALAMARI FRITTI which exudes a nice, fresh and tender squid fried but not greasy at all. It is well seasoned as well. LATRIADE Salad: fresh and nicely cooked sesame covered tuna, avocados, caramelized or marinated onions, tomatoes, greens and balsamic glaze. Freshing and tasty.
MAINS: Ojo de bife, medium rare, nicely done and VERY tender garnished with vegetables with a very subtle smoky hints from their special oven.
SPAGO MARE The CHAMPION, the chef’s plate. You can appreciate the freshness and the hardwork and precision in terms of the how and what ingredie work together. THIS WILL BE THE PLATE that I will order over and over again.
Desserts: We had the Panna Cotta all’amaretto with whipped cream: tasty and not to sweet. Cannoli Siciliani: unlike the other cannolis i’ve tried before, this is the one i liked best. Not so sweet and the biscuit itself is nice to bite.
Coffee. Limoncello. Amaro Vecchio del Capo. What a way to end the night.
The gentlemen’s attention has been a 10 all throughout the evening. Professional, non judgmental,...
Read moreWe just come back from out meal at Piano b. And are super happy. First the interior is lovely. It’s romantic and has a lovely feel to it. It’s not a super quit restaurant so you can relax and talk. The waiter was lovely and very attentive. He helped us with some questions about what things were on the lovely menu but the QR code would give you fotos incase of doubt. We had a starter of bacalao with a sauce that made me lick the plate ( don’t worry I did this with my finger) . Mains were sepia pasta and for me ( drum noises) “Bistecca Sedanorapa Apionabo a la braza en salsa de setas porcini y champiñones”. Im not a vegetarian nor a vegan but it sounded appealing to me somehow. Gosh was I not disappointed. In the contrary! What an amazing dish. Super flavours and yet great for people that don’t eat meat if they wish so. My partner had a sepia pasta and was super full and happy after. He was still scooping the sepia of his plate after finishing the pasta so the ratio is super too. Then desserts…. Yummie Is what I can say except that it was a shame I didn’t have more space and had to chose one only ( it would not fit otherwise) . Cannoli = gorgeous , brownie = gorgeous, wines = amazing. Overal a super spot with super attentive chefs and waiter. Top marks to the guy who made Bistecca Sedanorapa for me as it was finger licking good. Definitely a place to visit if you’re...
Read moreThe food was a disaster. Probably the worst “Italian” food I have ever eaten in my life. I don’t understand why this restaurant ranked top 5 in Barcelona on The Fork and was rated 4.9 on Google map with its 300+ reviews.
Let’s talk about their seafood pasta first. The seafood was not fresh at all, including shrimp, squid, etc. You can definitely tell it from its taste and feeling whenever you bite into it. All the seafood just tastes like zombie meat that was deeply frozen for years. I won’t discuss the flavor of the pasta as everyone’s mileage may vary, but the ingredients were really bad, you can’t deny it.
The next is about the steak. We ordered a medium steak. The steak came very dry, that is, really hard to chew. The steak has no taste at all. It tastes like one dry and plain meat, except for the burnt and bitter “flavor”, apparently overcooked. Last point, the portion of the food is not comparable to its price. For this point, you can also see it from the pictures of the menu.
Though, their service and atmosphere were good. Large indoor spaces are provided, and actually not too many people...
