Terrible experience. My partner and I frequently visit Barcelona and passed by. The meat cuts displayed in the window attracted us so we made a reservation. Getting there, the waitress informed us the speciality of the restaurant is fish, even though the windows show otherwise. She informed us the price of the matured meat, 10€ per 100g. We were not so hungry and requested around 600g, but she informed the minimum order was 1kg. We still agreed with that, but she brought us a peace of meat and said it was 1.300g, the minimum she would have. And the bones and fat were included in the price, leaving us with just a bit of meat. We declined the offer as she seemed very pushy and arrogant. Thanks God we don't have any financial problems, but we don't like our money going down the drain with nonsense offers.
On a side note, my partner and I are very generous with our dinners, and we don't mind paying 300-400€ for a quality dinner for 2. And we've been to hundreds of restaurants around the world and we've never seen anything this.
We thought about choosing other dishes, but her arrogance and lack of listening skills made us want to leave. After we said we would only take the starters and drinks we already ordered and leave afterwards, she called the manager to talk to us, making our experience even more inconvenient. We didn't request to talk to any manager, so I don't understand the reason for that, other than making us feel awkward.
Like I said, we are pretty generous with our restaurant bills, but we don't accept paying for something that will mostly go to the bin. If you are considering this very pretentious restaurant, please don't. Take your business to one of the thousands of amazing restaurants Barcelona...
Read moreWe had lunch here on a Wednesday without reservation, but the waiters were able to find a table for us straightaway. The place is very nice and welcoming, very enjoyable atmosphere. There is a bar outside where you can enjoy pintxos and good drinks. Inside, the grill where foods are cooked is eye-catching. We were welcomed with an appetizer of olives and anchovies, very tasty. We had the leeks on the charcoal (this can variate as they offer vegetables as per season availability). We opted for special extra dry-aged old cow, which was cooked to perfection (nice to see the fat presented on a separate plate), accompanied with a green salad with onions and grilled peppers. Only one advice: I would have liked to see the meat before it was cooked. We had a glass of rioja red wine. Everything was beautifully presented and of excellent quality. Several dishes are finished at the customer's table, adding to the experience.
The place is quite expensive, but right for the quality of the food, the very enjoyable and welcoming service, and the place.
We did not have any of the fish dishes, but I would recommend to try anything suggested by the waiters.
I would recommend to make a reservation.
update: I was again at Sagardi for lunch, and the high quality of the service and food was confirmed. Tuna tartare and grilled vegetables something to try. Don't miss the pintxos before entering the restaurant, and...
Read moreFrom the outside I saw a nice classy but informal Tapas restaurant, not too small, not too big, pretty crowded but in a good way. When I thought that was it we were taken to the main salon and it was outstanding: a wooden chick restaurant but with a extremely friendly vibe, an amazing balance in between a top class restaurant and a place where friends can go and have a laugh while eating an amazing meal. The experience was lovely, we tried the “all you can drink” on the cider tap and it was so much fun and on a really good price tbh. They teach you how to property pour the cider (it’s not for everyone! 🤣) and you can self serve if you keen to. Coming to the food OMG. We had the tomato salad (THREE different kind of tomatoes which were amazing); the “pimientos” delightful; braised leek, WHAT!?; masa madre bread which I just could not stop eating and soaking in the tomato salad juice (none of us could); and the DIVA of the night: the 1.400 kg. Rib Steak, just speechless, they would make it at “Sagardi” point which at first I wasn’t sure of it but Jesus Christ it was outstanding! I am from Uruguay so I am super picky when it comes to meat but this was marvellous. And for closing we had chocolate trouffles (recommend) and a portion of warm cheese cake...
