The worst store manager I have even encountered with! We headed for this restaurant for our first dinner at Barcelona after long haul of flight from US on Christmas Night. We were very excited to try some authentic Spanish food. There was no receptionist at the door like in US. After waiting for a while, we decided to go inside to look around and met a worker at a bar and asked about how to get seated and were told to wait at the door. While we were waiting at the door and discussing the menu, the manager (I believe he was) came out and argued with us for interfering with his workers and for walking inside without waiting for being seated humbly (we had been waiting outside for a while before going inside, and it was just around 6:30, not busiest time of the night yet). He was scolding my wife as being RUDE to his workers and for treating them like slaves, which she definitely did NOT do. We were appalled at his RUDE behavior and decided to dine somewhere else. Although being back in US for a week, I still felt being treat very badly at this place and would like for other tourists to know so they could reconsider dining at this place to avoid a similar experience. Most restaurants we dined in later on during the trip were great! So I can say this restaurant definitely was way below the average service quality of restaurants at Barcelona and it did tarnish the reputation of restaurants in such a beautiful city. If Google allowed negative rating, I would cast negative 5...
Read moreAvoid this place at all cost. The service was absolutely rubbish from the start to the end. We had to wait for about 10 minutes before any staff came and spoke to us about the availability of any seating. We ordered the food which took a while to come. When the first starter came, there was a hair in it. The waitress did take the starter away with the cutlery. But took ages to bring another plate and cutlery, I had to ask several times and eventually I got replacement side plate and cutlery. We ordered several seafood paella courses. All were incredibly poor. There was very little of the paella. The rice had been overcooked and had been burnt. The shrimps had little amount of the meat and were just basically a shell and that’s it. We complained about the quality of the paella, the waitress took one of the paella’s back but the manager came with that paella. We aired our grievances with him but he refused to do anything. He did not want replace the food, nor take the uneaten paella off the bill. We also complained the hair in the starter, shockingly it did not concern him. He said it’s just one of those things and can happen in any restaurant. Subsequently several people in our party ended up with food poisoning soon after eating the food. Do not go to this place and be fooled by the appearance of the venue, it’s an absolutely a...
Read moreWe stopped at Tapa Tapa in 35-degree heat, desperate for shade and a bite to eat. The food itself was great fresh, tasty, and arrived fairly quickly. That’s the only reason this isn’t a 1-star review.
But the service? Borderline rude. Our waiter actively avoided eye contact and seemed disinterested from the start. We noticed a sign outside advertising English menus, but our table had Spanish ones. When we politely asked for an English version, he jabbed his finger at a QR code without a word — no explanation, no help, just irritation.
Later, I asked if they offered a white wine spritz — the response was a blunt “Aperol spritz only.” Fair enough if that’s all they do, but when I asked to see a drinks menu, he practically slammed it down in front of me and walked off. We waited so long for him to come back that we gave up and asked for the bill instead.
He dropped the card machine on the table, took payment, and walked away without a thank you or even a nod. Meanwhile, he had plenty of time to laugh and joke with colleagues.
The irony? They’ve got two people permanently stationed outside trying to pull in tourists, but no interest in looking after the ones already sitting down. We’d have happily stayed longer and spent more if they’d bothered to treat us like customers, not an...
