Time to go back to my favorite activity on the week-end: discover new ice cream parlors. I mentioned a few weeks ago that new parlors kind of popped out of the blue in Barcelona and one of them is Amiko, in Consell de Cent. Ice cream parlors there make sense cause now Consell de Cent is a "pacified" area, which means that it's (almost) a pedestrian area. 🤗 Apparently, it's an Argentinian gelateria cause they sell alfajores and other Argentinian products, on top of gelato. Also they sell dulce de leche gelato, which is something you would find in any Argentinian gelateria and almost no Itaian parlor. The place is cute, retro, and wide so not only can you eat your gelato in an area with no cars, but you can also easily find a seat to eat more comfortably. 👍 The gelato tasted natural (especially hazelnut and pistachio), its texture was great and it did not melt. It wasn't too sweet so I was not thirsty afterwards. 👏 That said, its taste was kind of weak and the best part was the spread in some of the flavors. The clerk was nice and patient (always a must when I'm with my son!). But... 🍨 there is expensive: the smaller size already costs €4.5 and the quantities are insufficient for such a price. The big one costs €6.5 so not much difference, but I'm not sure, from what I saw, that the quantity in the biggest size is much more important than in the smaller one. 🤔 In any case, you can't pick more than 2️⃣ flavors, no matter the size and this is 👎. So yeah... not a bad experience at all but I still am kinda disappointed... 😔

Read moreDo NOT recommend, the place looks pretty but the service we experienced was shockingly poor!
We made a reservation for 12:30, and ended up waiting for almost a whole hour for a table! What’s the point to reserve??? We appreciated that we were offered free espressos/cortados/cava as we had to wait.
Once we had our table and ordered the food, some of the plates arrived with missing ingredients and replaced with others, no warning about it! The least we expect is to be informed if the food you’ve ordered will be prepared differently or asked about it!
2 plates NEVER ARRIVED! Which means two people ended up without food! We informed them and we decided to cancel as they never realised the plates were missing. Nonetheless, the plates that did come, were good but quite small considering the price!
We were super disappointed as we had high expectations! My advice is to communicate better with your customers, please inform if ingredients are not available, and most importantly double-check with your customers if they’re missing anything or need anything else.
As a result we were offered 50% discount on every plate, which was appreciated considering the situation! We at least can thank them for being understanding of our frustration and for offering a solution. But we...
Read moreThe place is pretty and the waiters nice but the food is really not up to the standards. I ordered the vegetarian ceviche which had leche de tigre written in the ingredients. When the plate arrived, it was juts a tiny bowl of fruits and avocado cut in big chunks with a bit of crispy corn sprinkled on top, no sauce, nothing else. When at the end I told them I didn’t taste the leche de Tigre, they told me that yes it was because they get it in bottles (because obviously it couldn’t have been homemade), and that once opened they need to be consumed within 24 hours, so they normally don’t put it at all because there’s not enough people asking for this dish. They haven’t even tried to put a bit of fresh onions and lemon and spices to make it closer to an actual ceviche. 13€ for a tiny fruit salad. I don’t know about the ice creams but for brunch there are much nicer places...
