I´ve just had the WORST service in a restaurant in my life. Last evening I came to the restaurant because I got recommended and I´ve tried once before and it was fine. This time I came with a friend who has bad stomach and cannot eat anything like this these days, so it would be only me who would order something, plus I had had dinner earlier already, so I just wanted to order a couple of sushis. I decided to order 3 different sushis individually, the waiter took my order and came back in a moment saying it´s not possible to make them, too little, not even for takeaway. Then I say, maybe I can get a sushi assortment of 5 pieces. He still responded NO. Being shocked, me and my friend left the place, at closing the door we both say: I WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. Wow! It´s incredible and totally unacceptable to treat customers like this in service industry, especially unbelievable from the Japanese, who are well-known for their politeness and etiquette. Deleted immediately from my list on Google Maps. No, thanks. There are better options and better services...
Read moreA Japanese restaurant from before they became popular in the city. If you come here looking for fusion driven cuisine or sweet fried makis you will be disappointed. The sushi served here is classic, just rice and fish on top. And that's not a bad thing, but it puts a lot of pressure in the quality of both ingredients. Tempura-Ya does not disappoint in this matter (make sure you try the toro niguiri), but it's not the best sushi restaurant in town either. The tempuras are excellent, as well as other dishes outside de sushi menu. A bit pricey (we had dinner for 60€, two persons) and usually crowded, make sure to make a reservation. I'm not giving the 4th star because we had to wait for 20 minutes for a table even though we had made a reservation and...
Read moreWe ordered Yaki udon, tempura and nigiri. The tempura was well-made, crispy and fresh with turnip pulp and the right sauce. Most Japanese restaurants in BCN are Chinese-owned and food isn’t done properly. The undo here is a bit salty as the right Japanese way should be. The chefs here are Japanese. Servers understand me when I speak Japanese too. You would know the difference if you are an expert. Yet, I do need to point out some pieces of sashimi may not be as fresh and of right texture as they should be (it happened to me at my second visit), so it should...
