Without a doubt the worse restaurant we came to in Barcelona.
Do not waste your time or money here!!!!
I wish this didn’t have to be as long as it is as I want as many people to read it all!
This was recommended online and we were so excited to try the food as it looked great. Despite the 30 mins walk from our hotel. As soon as we walked in we felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable.
The only man who was working (who shockingly turned out to be the manager) was so rude. Firstly, he was wearing shorts and flip-flops, as the manager.. which is so unhygienic in a rather pricey ‘nice’ restaurant, to match his lack of professionalism, he was not at all friendly. When we asked for a table for 2, he shouted over at us from a distance to where we could go. After sitting down, we waited for 5 minutes with no menus.
The manager then comes over and carelessly places a half erased blackboard menu across from us, no explanation, direction or an attempt at service.
We had to ask the young waitresses if it was the menu etc.. and the girls even asked us ‘ did he not explain to you?’.. I’d like to note that the girls were lovely and the only helpful staff, they certainly worked harder than him. Bless them, they were running around all over the place.
We felt so unwelcome that we decided to leave after our first tapas dish, (thankfully we didn’t order anything else as it was so overpriced). The manager who threw the plate of patatas bravas at us exclaimed “here’s your French fries” sarcastically and scuttled away in his flip-flops before we could say anything. Whilst the dish was tasty, the cold and hostile environment was enough to lose our appetite and leave.
If you’re a tourist who speaks little Spanish 100% avoid coming to this restaurant if you do not wish to feel uncomfortable and to...
Read moreSopa Boba is magic. This small restaurant is the most amazing place I've ever eaten at. I can't believe it. After a full day of walking (we walked cca 30km that day) my friend and me went to Sopa Boba because we have read really good reviews about it. And OH BOY WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I have never eaten food like this in my life. The waitresses were super nice and explained the menu to us. We ordered 5 things, burrata with pistacchio pesto, steak tartare with smoked butter, avocado with pico de gallo, squid with chestnut sauce and rabo del toro burger. SWEET JESUS AND MARY. First they gave us the burrata, which was super sweet and nice. Steak tartare with smoked butter (I recommend ordering extra bread) was sublime. The flavors were ....I can't even explain them. I thought the steak tartare was the peak of the evening, but OH BOY WERE I WRONG. THE AVOCADO WITH PICO DE GALLO. It was the most sublime thing I've ever eaten in my life, and I'm not even a fan of avocado. I don't know what magic they did, but I would eat that avocado every single day of my life and wouldn't get bored of it. It was beyond sublime. The squid however, was very weird and we will pretend that we never ordered it and that it never happened xD. And then for the grand ending, rabo del toro burger, absolutely magnificent. We were already too full to enjoy it completely, but it was spectacular. Drinks were also very nice, and they served some really fancy water. All in all, Sopa Boba is magic. I want to come back because I dream of that avocado and steak tartare. 20/10
And yes. The food was that good that we didnt even have time to make pictures before...

Called three weeks ahead to reserve a table to celebrate wife's birthday. Spoke to an amiable young lady and informed her of the occasion. She made the reservation and even told me that someone was going to call to offer a special menu. (no one called except for a man, presumably the manager, confirming the reservation the day before)
Unfortunately, the evening was irreversibly ruined. About 21:30, a little more than an hour after we arrived, after a few appetizers, we were unceremoniously told that we had 30 minutes to finish and vacate the table due to the fact that they have made another reservation for 22:00.
We were shocked and surprised to learn that unbeknownst to us, we were allotted less than two hours for a birthday party, but the manager kept insisting that they have informed us of this earlier (needless to say, they did no such thing, otherwise I would have never made the reservation in the first place.)
Moreover, the manager was downright rude, rushing us for the remainder of time and nearly causing a scene, with a lot of contemptuous eye rolling and impatient sighing. He even suggested that we (!!) were being inconsiderate (!!!) to his other customers, who were forced to wait extra five minutes at the bar, while we were cramming our birthday deserts.
I do not like to write negative reviews, but the whole experience was so thoroughly unpleasant, disappointing and downright humiliating that we have never been back since, and don't plan to be, despite the fact that we live less than two blocks away and pass by this...
