We decided to enjoy steak and champagne to close out the year (2024). The Steak House in Ciutat Vella was our choice for this celebratory outing. Fortunately, we made a reservation, as the place was packed! The beautiful menu with so many choices was of little concern to us this day. We only wanted the best - filet mignons! On the restaurant's menu that is the 'Solomillo de Novillo Black Angus Argentino 250g', the best cut of meat they offer. Obviously, this is the most expensive cut at 38E per serving, but it is specifically what we came for. And the quality of the meat and its preparation made it worth every centime! We ordered our filet mignons medium rare, and they came out to us perfectly cooked to this level of doneness, with a warm red center, a firm outside and a tender texture and a rich, buttery flavor throughout. The steaks were served each cut into three large piece on a Steakhouse cutting board with two generous piles at the end of the board - one of sea salt and the other of chili flakes. This was perfect to augment the rich and juicy steak flavor. The steak boards each came out with a bowl of french fries. We complemented the steaks with an order of the Parrillada de verduras (barbequed vegetable platter with a nice array of lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked veggies, including red and green peppers, asparagus, zucchini, corn, potato and squash). This beautiful vegetable spread was offered with a delicious red dipping sauce. We were delighted with our meal and the accompanying cold bottle of cava we ordered to complete the celebration. The quantity of the steak served was too much for me in one serving. I took a carry-home bag of the second half of my lunch and enjoyed it the next day. The steak was of such high quality that even a one and a half minute warm up in the microwave could not ruin it. It was still mouthwateringly delicious on day two!
A word about service at the Steak House. The servers were very pleasant and attentive, without any hovering. They answered questions (I wasn't sure of the Spanish name for a filet mignon) and served us quickly and quietly. The servers work very hard, as I mentioned the restaurant was extremely busy. Yet they never seemed rushed or brusque.
By the way, for others who don't want to choose the top steak cut, I saw lots of really beautiful burgers being carried to hungry patrons, although I am not sure how someone could get an 8-inch high burger into their mouths!
This was a great spot and we will be sure to...

We ordered a couple starters with squid and croquettes both decent dishes.
Squid had good seasoning and cooked well and plenty for a portion, lots of heads (tentacles) which I really like personally, came with a garlic / lemon aioli dip which complimented dish well.
Beef croquettes were nice, slight crispy batter / coating, shredded beef with rich deep flavour.
The steaks arrived and this is certainly the show stoppers here, certainly know a thing or two about steak here.
I ordered the filet steak, with mash potatoes and chimichurri sauce, which was included in the steak price.
I ordered my steak medium, always my choice on new restaurants just incase, would say it come medium rare which was ok, come with salt and chilli to season as you like.
The steak had lovely char and had that flame grilled taste, well rested before being served and had lots of good flavour throughout the cut.
The steak was really good certainly no complaints on the steak, I could eat that everyday that’s for sure!
The chimichurri sauce did let me down, it lacked any acidity was unsure if had any vinegar in the sauce at all, plenty of herb and oil but lacked that cut through on palette.
And the mash was more like a soup consistency than mash potato, but in general the flavours were incredible and actually become more of a sauce for the steak, the combination was great.
Overall I would say it’s a good visit, not an overly expensive restaurant and for the price it’s a very good place to eat.
I would rate this visit...
Read moreWas really looking forward to a dry aged steak. Google reviews were quite high, so decided to give the Steak House a shot. The entrance looked promising, wood fired stove, smokey smell in the air.
Start with the Pros: High quality steak, got the 60 day dry aged entrecote and a picanha Beef was flavourful and could taste the dry aged intense flavour for the price, the quality of meat is decent
Now with the Cons: the steaks while cooked to the desired temperatures, had no outside sear we got 2 sides, a mashed potato which was not made fresh, but obviously from a premade mix had the consistency of a runny soup (it fell through the fork). French fries were very crunchy and a bit dry, I was okay with them, but my partner thought they were too greasy and not made fresh Ordered a side of beef sausage, which was just okay, nothing special the steaks are served with two squeeze bottles of sauce: ketchup and mayonnaise.
Atmosphere wise: the restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived. But no one came to take our drink order, I had to wait until I ordered the food to get our drinks order the toilets had no toilet paper when we were there. For a not-so-cheap steakhouse, this did not seem like something that should be overlooked.
Overall, I was quite disappointed with my entire experience. Would not recommend going out of your way to eat here. An okay choice if you are nearby. The burger and fajitas looked decent, but...
